Thought I'd regurgitate and old recording. I did this in 2005 for a collection of 60's and 70's tunes, that I worked on with another group. It's the Mountain song "Nantucket Sleighride". I just pulled it up today, and was playing around with a remix. Still needs another mix. The balance is way out during the instrumental bridge, but believe it or not, it's better than the original mix.  Had to cram it down to 96kbps to upload it, so fidelity may be compromised a bit.

Great production, great harmonies,  great style.  Nice song.

Thanks for the kind words, BB. I don't know how many people remember the song, but it was one of my favorites back in the 70's. Always wanted to cover it. It was the most tracks I had recorded in one song at the time; 20-something. Had my way with the instrumental section; trying to give it a more nautical feel.

I wanted a full, choral sound to the harmonies. It's just three voices, double tracked and time shifted. Add a ton of chorus and reverb, and voila! LOL!

Great arrangement Frank!  Enjoy the instrumentation and the vocs/harmonies are great.  Did you do all the voc/harmonies and chorus?

Frank53

Thank you for the kind words, Diego! Yes, it's all me. Amazing what adding a lot of chorus to the chain can do. LOL!

Just downloaded this song - went back to give it another listen...  want to hear via my stereo and peal the song (w/ears) by layers --- realy like how you have added all the stuff!  I think it will help me to also learn how to add layers --- I'm a bit unsure (alot actualy) about bouncing/mixing/mastering -

Hey Frank, a great cover to a cool tune! Excellent production, with clean clear parts - you kept it interesting all the way through. I really like the vocal harmonies.

See you around,

Mark

FRK - Oh yes, very nice. Nice all round feel there. I can only agree with what others' have already said apropos playing, singing and production. :)
BTW, part of the instrumentation from the original was used as the intro music to a Sunday Lunchtime political television show in the UK entitled Weekend World. Many enquiries were made to the shows Producers as to what the fantastic intro music was called. I think it kept Mountain's LP in the charts for years!!

Thank you so much, Diego, Mark, Tony, and Steve! I appreciate the kind words. Layering - it's what I do because I don't play very well. A lot of simple parts that sound complex when put together. LOL!
