My first Facemask track!  I've seen you posting quite a bit, but hadn't yet had the pleasure of listening to any of your work until now.

Holy shit, Facemask. :o  This one took a while into the song to really grab me ... then it held on and never let go!  First, I love -- I mean, LOVE -- the first chord change ... you hold on to the initial chord for a long time, with nice little note accents, then that second chord really pulls you in.  So melodic.  Then, the bridge part (or is it chorus?) -- "I sound a bit hazy" -- sounds like it was pulled directly from the mid-60s.  Why can't I write stuff like this?  Then there's your voice.  Incredibly smooth and perfectly in key.  Nice bit of reverb as well.  Recorded so clearly -- I can't get over that on-board mic on the MBR!  Or did you use a proper mic?  I heard the "Seasons in the Sun" comparison Wiley was talking about.  I get a similar vibe.  I also like the simple lyrics ... it reminds you of how simple life can be if you don't let yourself get too wrapped into the drama and BS of it.  If this was written for a particular girl, I am about 99% sure she cried tears of joy when she listened to it.  Very sweet old school love song -- I love this, man, really. :)

If you don't mind a little constructive criticism, the lead guitar in the intro is a bit shrill.  I would maybe take some of the high EQ off, or perhaps record it an octave lower.

I will have to listen to more Facemask, for sure! ;D

It's a little too poppy for my usual style of music, but what carries it are your vocals. You have a really great voice and can handle different styles of singing really well. You are absolutely spot on all the way through this one and the vox really sound good. It's got a bit of a Tim Hardin feel to it in my mind.

As you said, a bit of fun (so hardly Roy Harper!) but with your vox it's definitely more than a throw away.

Cheers,

Nigel

Thanks nigel , I would dearly love to come up with something that mr harper would consider throwing away , I'm destined to do covers I think , maybe coming up with the odd original
the talent on this site is hard to keep up with

Definitely worth the bump. I missed this one.
I do agree about the shrill lead. It's an attention grabber but I did reach for the volume. Just back off the volume and EQ a bit in my opinion.
Nice composition, well sung.
