Hi all. The recent storm here, blew the roof off my music hut. Luckily I was home when it happened and was able to rescue all my guitars. The hut has since been restored to it's former glory, albeit the eclectric wiring has to be fixed.
So first song in a while, using my new spark 2 amp into my Macbook and playing my old Harley Benton Tele copy for the first time in ages. Surprisingly it actually stacks up well to the real fender tele I have and at about a tenth of the cost.
Anyroads up, what happened to my hut seems to be happening over the water politically, history repeats et al. so that probs inspired the lyric, however. Maybe it could sneak into the Future fest LOL!

It is what it is.
Promises wrapped in silver lines
On the back of borrowed time.
A quiet shift, a creeping tide,
History hums, but we close our eyes.
And we know yes we know
That's the way things go
That's the way things go
Whispers turn to marching feet,
Echoes rising from the back streets
The playbook's worn, the names just change,
But the fire burns all the same.
And we know yes we know
That's the way things go
That's the way things go
They're tearing everything right down
See the vultures circling around
Same old script, a different cast,
Watch them paint the future's past.
A smiling face, a tightened chain,
Selling comfort, dealing pain.
Pages torn and lessons lost,
The truth gets buried in the cost.
Smoke and mirrors, grand displays,
History sighs, nobody says
And we know yes we know
That's the way things go
That's the way things go

This flies by like a throwaway line. It's a sucker punch dulled by the palliative of a smooth and relaxing song – a song that seems to express futility. This is the muzak playing in Room 101 of the Ministry of Love.

I'm in no mood for futility.
