Rachel & I went to see the new Bob Dylan movie "The complete unknown" last night of which I throughly enjoyed although Bob did come across as a bit of an arse at times. But anyway I was having a strum and thought I'd try and write a song in the style of early Bob. Here it is live from the cellar recorded with one mic.
I stood by my window
When I first heard a her sing
my thoughts Took flight
I was suddenly on the wing

Flying high up through the sky
Suddenly I was dancing above the clouds
I nearly touched the sun
Before falling down

I was in love  with that voice I'd heard up there in the clouds
I stood on top of the hillside but that hillside
came tumbling down

Unlucky in love
I brushed myself right down
I started on my travels
to see how big the world was around

I walked many a hillside
but never did find love
I can't say I was looking
That first time was enough

Now instead of love
I'd found adventure running through my bones
I still climbed those hillsides but the hillsides leave me alone

Must have have gone to every country
in this great big world
Before coming home
And realising I didn't have to go anyhere at all

I'd left my heart at home
Just run away thats all
So I picked it up
and stopped acting like a fool

I Went and found that girl
now we both sing the same song
I got her hand in marriage
Now I can love her
all day long

I'm flying high
We're always singing songs
I love that lady
Now I know where I belong

My heads no longer in the clouds
My feet are firmly on the ground
I've stopped acting the fool
Ive finally calmed down

I'm in love with that voice I heard in  the clouds
I'm stood on top of the hillside
And hillsides
 not tumbling down

You're borderline one upping Dylan.

Is there any limit to this mans talent? Give him the handle!

Hey Trevor you're giving early Dylan a run for his money here! We also saw "A Complete Unknown" a few weeks ago. I already knew Dylan could be an arze so I was expecting it but my wife wasn't and that ruined the movie for her, lol. I enjoyed the heck out of the film!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Yeah I heard stories he could be a bit like that. He's done some great songs though none the less, and you have faithfully recreated his early style really well here. Not just the guitar but his vocal style too.
Great song Trev.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

Very Dylan-esque but, to me, a better vocal performance than Dylan !

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Cool tune, maybe an octive or two abo ve Dylan but his songs always sounded better  when they where covered, in my opinion.

I think you nailed it Trev. It most certainly is in the early Bob style. I was going to say "Bob would approve" but as he is notoriously awkward and contrary I think I will phrase it "Bob should approve!" I think he would anyway.

Brilliant song and you are totally immersed in the vibe.

Cheers
