It's a song I didn't know at all! ;D  ;D  ;D

In fact, I covered a song by the French folk singer Ricet Barrier, and at the time I saw him on stage in France, he had some fantastic musicians, some of whom were English.

Not long ago, I covered a Ricet Barrier song entitled 'Y a des voluptés dans la vie', in which the English guitarist makes this musical quote: "Mary had a little lamb".

(which you can hear in my version on SC
https://songcrafters.org/forum/index.php?topic=35241.msg416684#msg416684 , at 3mn08

Intrigued by this incongruous phrase in the song, I looked up what it was and learned from wikipedia that it was a well-known nursery rhyme in English-speaking countries.
...and still searching I found a "rock" version done by Stevie Ray Vaughan (great guitarist, gone too soon...)

and it's this one that I've had (a lot of) fun reproducing here

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

JP you just crack me up! I mean "Here's a cover of a Stevie Ray Vaughan song... I don't know the song".

The sound picture of this song conjures up "Austin Powers " -type of images. This is way more fun than the SRV original that's a bit... Stuck up? Or something...

Mary may have had a little lamb. But she sure as heck had a huge doobie!

Awesome cover JP! The guitars really snarl, they have a 1960s vibe like The Yardbirds to my ear. Great lead work and a really tight recording.

A little Stevie hard to pull off but you have done a excellent job
Bravo Tim
Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

In the 70's and 80's, Stevie Ray Vaughan was a reference in blues-rock guitar playing, but he played like a "lumberjack", because he used 13-58 strings... Strings that thick can quickly twist your neck (he had a lot of stratocasters, by the way), as well as blowing off your fingers, and you didn't need to have polyarthritis in your fingers to bend them!
The sound of his strato was very clattering too.
I haven't tried to copy his playing, as I'm incapable of doing so with my old fingers, which are a little too lax.

I don't always understand the meaning of the words of the songs I sing, and I don't really care (much), so Mary can have a little sheep, or a little pig, but it doesn't make any difference to me.   ;D

Great playing, great fun j'aime beaucoup.

I also don't know the SRV original (in fact I don't think I've ever heard any SRV music)

I am about to go sacrilege here ok?  I never got into SRV or the Fabulous Tbirds either!  I feel bad that SRV died.  I really ain't that into blues but I like ZZ Top kind of blues...

but I like your cover alot and this rocks.  There are tons of great guitar players... tons of em... but vocals set things apart... and I like your singing on this too... so while I like your cover I ain't gonna bother going to hear the orig to hear what I know I already will.

my favorite part of this cover though is your bass... I love it.

On a side note: I read that Stevie Ray tuned his guitar down to E flat to make it easier to bend those piano strings, lol. Cool cover JP!
