My mixes seem quite bassy, particularly the guitars and drums.  I like my drums to have a real snap to them personally.

Is there a basic eq or anything similar on the BR?

Absolutely- pg 68 of the manual describes the eq
you can add all kinds of effects

btw are you referring to the mbr's drums?
if so, then you'd have bounce them to a vtrack first
