John was a tad snarky to my cat so I made him sing over 13/8 in the verses.

Peace.

Lurker

I don't think I was snarky enough.

He checked out the best then bought the lesser one
Another penny saved for the tun
Until the bill for damage done
Revealed the prize that greed had won

Passing chances the four of cups
The hand is full but it's never enough
Perpetually dissatisfied
By faults seen only through his eyes

The tender he wanted finally came
He decided coy was his best play
The talent scout soon tired of the game
When he gave in they'd gone a different way

Passing chances the four of cups
The hand is full but it's never enough
Perpetually dissatisfied
By faults seen only through his eyes

The ship blew its horn as it loosened its moor
But he was too busy playing self-absorbed
Again he heard the horn so he ran to the door
In time to read across the stern, "Nevermore"

She offered love sincere and true
Self doubt made him remain aloof
Even though he knew he felt it too
He told himself lies disguised as proof

Passing on chances the four of cups
The hand is full but it's never enough
Perpetually dissatisfied
By faults seen only through his eyes

Farrell Jackson

The lyrics are interesting. I like how John used the Four of Cups Tarot card to build the lyrics around it's meaning...nice writing there! The heavy rhythm and bass keep the song in the rockin' lane. The guitar solo was super. To my ears it has the style, phrasing and attack of Steve Howe. I have to commend John for handling the 13/8 timing with ease. A very cool song overall!

That just means the world to me. I never understand why he isn't as heralded as Clapton, Gilmour, Page, Beck, Hendrix, etc.

Cool track. Really like the construction and execution.

On my second listen now.  Fabulous verse riff and great vocal.  Love the guitar solo, and I agree with Farrell, it nods a stylistic hat at Mr Howe.

I shall listen again.

Love this. What a crazy time signature! I'd be falling off the edge of the stage trying to count it live. That vocal is fantastic and the guitar soloing - jeez .... brilliant, Bruce.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away
