Missing pieces of
a once so fine a love
Gone in one sad day.
How it's gone astray
Never to be whole again
Hung up on those words you said.

Something here is wrong.
We can't get along
All hope just fades away.
Dying everyday
Never to be one again.
Shattered pieces.  All that's left

We've taken all the risks
only to find we can't go on like this
Now all of the smiles and laughter
have faded away somehow
It doesn't seem to matter as much
now that we've said goodbye
We've both forgotten how it feels
to be so much in love

You say it's all a game
and you don't feel the same
You've never tried to see
the hurt you've put on me
Pain is something you'll never know
How can we ever hope to grow?

Missing pieces of
what was once so fine a love
Gone in one sad day.
How love has gone astray
Never to be whole again
Hung up on words you never said.

wonderful work Johh... I like the subtle keyboards quietly deep in the right speaker... sounds amazing... then the breathy flute like synth in the left!  real sweet!
the bass meanders along like a stream in a quiet meadow... doesn't seem to mind the sidetracks and the slow wandering... the piano, as usual is the musical star..

really nice vocals and melody.
tough to write lyrics like this...

Fine song John.

It seems you have got to grips with Studio one.  I knew you would.

Farrell Jackson

This is an excellent song and production John! Your vocals in the chorus remind me of Pete Cetera with the cool reverb/delay effect. I dig the flute and strings...nice panning. The bass hangs steady in the back ground with just enough presence that says "listen to me". A great mix!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Zoltan

I agree with Farrell! Excellent song and the production is dare i say... slightly more modern sounding.
I'm a fan of vintage sound and this luckily isn't too far from that either (the classic proper songwriting keeps it in those realms anyhow).

The vocals are well done too. I kept reading the lyrics and hanging onto the phrasing while listening to it.

yes John, these may be your finest sounding vocals ever... likely not because you sing better etc... maybe you do... but the way you process the vocals into the music sounds amazing... like Z said... modern?

but yes the song is yesteryear style which I love and thank you!

Hi Zol, Steven, Chapps, Farell & Ray and thank you all so much for listening and commenting.
Yes, I'm getting on well with Studio One.  It's actually the 4th DAW I've worked with over the past 15 years but they all have their own little nuances.  I'm already forgetting Cakewalk and I used that for more than 10 years. ;)

Love the use of space throughout and contrasting themes and instrumentation. Excellent production as well. Fine job! 8)
