Personally, I'll wait for Roland/Boss USA to issue the update. I'd hate to find that things get translated to German or something =)

they did a similar thing last year where Roland issued an update for the BR600 only on the Japanese website-I waited quite a while before upgrading-
it was in english

Historically, firmware updates have only fixed bugs or improved memory card compatibility. The only times they added new features were when they re-marketed an existing BR as "Version 2" (BR-900 and BR-1600). So don't expect any new features in this Micro BR update unless they decide to announce a "Micro BR Version 2" at NAMM (unlikely, I think).

Still, it's wise to keep your BR up-to-date with the latest firmware updates to avoid problems caused by bugs or memory card issues. Although, I wouldn't be in too big a hurry with this one, especially if you already have version 1.03. Wait until Roland releases it with English instructions (unless you're fluent in German). The actual update will be identical, but the English instructions will hopefully ensure that you do it right.

i'd like to try it but its all in german, i put it through babelfish and its still gobblydeygook to me

Micro BR Version 1.03

I used Google Translator to "decrypt" the secret message. Follow below to the "translation". It's a little goofy, but see what you can make of it. After all of these, I still don't see what the update does. There is no HTML info available yet for this version.

I could not get the menus to work in the translator...so I copied the text into the translator. The Micro-BR updates read as follows (when translated):

2. Turn the Micro-BR out.



Update via SD card
-------------------

You need this one from the Micro-BR SecureDisc formatted card
(SD), which properly with the Micro-BR works, and a

(Take your best at the Micro-BR supplied SD card).

1. Make sure that the SD card with the Micro-BR is formatted
    Formatting the card if necessary ([UTILITY] key, then 3 x [tr4]).

3. Copy all files ( "MBR_V000.BIN", "MBRSYS00.BIN" etc.) from
    the folder "MBR_update" not the folder, only the files
