A simple ditty with just acoustic guitar and vocal.

She can be my mermaid I can be her Ancient Mariner
And whenever we're on land my arms strong enough to carry her
And every ship put to sea full of old sailor's tales
Will have our names embroidered in Prussian Blue across their sails
And if my boat should sink without trace leaving widows in grief
Lured by sirens' seductive songs to a jagged rocky reef
Then my soul and spirit will dwell happily in her world
Amongst Davy Jones' locker, sunken treasure and oyster pearls.

She can be my Bonnie Parker and I can be her Clyde
Steal from the rich; to hell with the poor; we'll keep the money and hide
And though us both would realise that nothing good will last
We'll dance to the Foggy Mountain Breakdown; the banjo plucking fast
Make love how love should be made amongst whispers in the night
Then clean and oil the carbines travel fast and travel light
We'll heal every gunshot wound with love and a bottle of Jack
If I could enter her heart one time I swear I'd never come back.

She can be my Delilah; I'll grow my hair to be her Samson
I'll swear upon her beauty maybe she'll think of me as handsome
Or maybe Cleopatra and Caesar, or maybe Adam and Eve
Or Bogart and Bacall or Sir Lancelot and Genevieve
But I guess we'll be just who we are, nothing special nothing new
Maybe things will work out fine; I guess they always do
And when I return to reality here and I head home from the bars
If nothing else I still will have my precious twelve guitars
If I ever find myself upon that old rocky road again
I pray that I'll be a lot wiser than the hell I was back then.

That playing is sublime. Those lyrics are a mouthful. I couldn't help myself form imagining singing them. Several lines of pure poetry would have turned into absolute filth once i'd "pronounced" them :D

Strong storytelling and the feel of the song never once falters.

The lyrics could easily double as a standalone poem...beautiful words and vocal, Ray. Your acoustic guitar picking is so full of life and tone...it's the perfect sound and style for this song! I'm jealous of it all...bravo!

Great song Ray with impressive and engaging lyrics.
It might be a simple ditty for you, but that fingerpicking is something I couldn't do. Sounds brilliant, I like the tone of the guitar. Lovely lyrics and vocals mate.
I'm amazed at the plethora of songs you write and record.
