I have a pair of Behringer MS16, that works fine for me. True, not the best, but still they are far better than any PC-speakers and better for the purpose than most home stereo-systems

Cheer Geir. I've seen them too. It's just a case of how far I can stretch my (non existent) budget.

I think a lot of the new practice amps have "cd input" which could work for jamming.
I use a Crate Taxi, which also has a mic input and since they are both battery powered, you can take it wherever. Or sometimes I will use the input for mp3 made from the BR-600 and it turns into a one man band.

The monitors would be best for a home studio application and they are cheaper.
