Micro BR-80 auto punch in suddenly does not work

Hello
While recording a track, I suddenly noticed that the punch in didn't work. I have switched it on/off, altered the start time, restarted the machine, restarted AND disconnected the power - the problem is still there.
Starting a bit before the set punch in time, I press record, which starts to flash, and then play. The track starts playing while the record is still flashing. When the punch in time is reached, the record is still flashing and no recording is made. Have tried over and over and it will not work.
I also noted that when pressing STOP and REV I am not taken back to the punch in start point, but to the very start of the song. An indicator that something is not working, I guess.

I created a new song, just for testing, and on this song punch in works as expected. When it reaches the set time the record switches from flashing to steady lit and a recording is made.

Luckily, I had not recorded very much on the track that is failing, so I can just re-record everything on a new song. But, if I had recorded things I didn't wish to redo, is there a fix for this problem?
In that case, it may come in handy to know about that fix

Since punch in works on a new song, there may be some corruption in the files for your song. You can try optimizing the song (refer to page 88 in the BR-80 owner's manual on how to do this).

Hope this helps.
