Motor Synth MkII - Electro-Mechanical Desktop Synthesizer

Here's something new, old, and quite interesting from Gamechanger Audio, who've specialized in re-imagining old technology into new forms (check out their pedal line, if you haven't seen them before).



The synthesizer features electro-mechanical oscillators (essentially, spinning printed discs powered by brushless DC motors, which generate four different tones depending on the printing on the disc, and the pitch based on the motor spin speed). They packed these tone generators into an interface where the oscillator outputs can be shaped similarly to analog synthesizers using envelopes, filters, and modulation.

It probably goes without saying that the price is on the high side - but also comparable to other high-end synthesizers available from Moog, Oberheim, Waldorf, etc.

That's some mad scientist gear there. Custom made for the kind of rich person who likes to talk about their gear more than they like to make music with it. I'm not criticizing. I want to invent something for that demographic.
