Hi again. I wrote this song for Blake Shelton. I think his vocal style would fit this song. He's done songs about God before. Why not one more? It's just me and an acoustic guitar, not a lot of production. I used a lot of chorus (prob too much) on the vocal, so it sounds better with headphones.

God Deserves A Raise

The sand scorches your feet when it's a hundred degrees
We got the beach 'cause he made the sun
We got gravity in the MLB
Kids in the cheaps can catch home runs
The geeks at MIT say lights got freaky speed
It's greek to me but they're having fun
He did it all for free and made it look easy
He never sleeps,  his work is never done

Hey honey I know it sounds funny
But I got myself a new catchphrase
That ol' boss in the sky, he ain't like one of the guys
He don't get paid to work Sundays
Hey honey God don't need money
But after all the gifts he gave
I wanna ditch the boots, put on a tie and suit
And bring a check to church in praise
God deserves a raise
God deserves a raise

He knows what I like, He gave me my wife
Damn right, she was part of his plan
He gave us rules for life now I know wrong from right
When the bible's in my hands
We got the stars at night burning the brightest light
A billion reasons he's the man
We got religious types believing all the hype
So many fans in the promised land

Hey honey I know it sounds funny
But I got myself a new catchphrase
That ol' boss in the sky, he ain't like one of the guys
He don't get paid to work Sundays
Hey honey God don't need money
But after all the gifts he gave
I wanna ditch the boots, put on a tie and suit
And bring a check to church in praise
God deserves a raise
God deserves a raise

His angels sang then he did his thang
And dang, just look what he did
It was the biggest bang and now there's stars that hang
And they twinkle at night for your kids
He did it all for free but gets gratuities
When they pass around the plate at mass
Get down and pray on your knees if you truly believe
And if you don't...you can kiss my ass!

Hey honey I know it sounds funny
But I got myself a new catchphrase
That ol' boss in the sky, he ain't like one of the guys
He don't get paid to work Sundays
Hey honey God don't need money
But after all the gifts he gave
I wanna ditch the boots, put on a tie and suit
And bring a check to church in praise
God deserves a raise
God deserves a raise

you can call me anything you like.  Just don't call me late for dinner

Zoltan

A solid country stomper. The beats aren't there, but i can imagine them playing in my head. There's that occasional fiddle riff making an appearance here and there too. In my mind.

Simple drum arrangement with heavy focus on beats to push the hooks of this sound would work a treat. The songwriting feels (to me) like it has one foot in the 90s.

The way you've used chorus in the vocs makes it easier to imagine the different ways this could play.

As Zoltan says above  listening to tracks like these you cant help but to imagine how it would sound in full country folk rock stle with all the instruments and whistles. the recording shows the potential for sure in acoustiuc form, nice

SE

Yes this sounds  cool too me, loving the vocal and simplified acoustic!
