This is a story about how some soldiers come back from war and get let down by thier country with the help they really need.
I think it stemmed from a documentary I saw with these poor guys on the street.
It's a long track but if you stick with it evolves at the end.
Hope you like it.

He lies there in a  box and settles down
He falls into a sleep on the cold damp ground
Everywhere around him it's the same old sound
The crying and the shouting  all around

He spent his whole life fighting, running
And now his country let him down
He couldn't stop those memories  coming

Another soldier from the zone
That never found his home.

His dreams become so vivid
,now he's standing there
The guns fire around him
And he doesn't care
He's fighting for survival in the burning sand
His friend crys out his name and he grabs his hand.

He spent the last few nights here praying
He thinks that God has let him down
He knows there's no going back

Another soldier from the zone
That never found his home.

And he remembers his two sons
And his wife sue
And all those messages
that got through
His head couldn't let his body go
The wars still there it still shows
A different guy came back
Every nights a full attack

I read the lyrics before I listened to the song. It's a disgrace how countries turn their backs on soldiers who risked everything in the line of duty. A great song, Kenny; so well arranged and produced along with great vocals and as always excellent guitar work. The ending soloing is stunning, mate.

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Very good song, i like the arrangment, the way you let the song breath and how musical it is, the lead guitar at the end is great has a epic sound towards the later part of the song, good subject and lyrics too, i very much enjoyed listening to this all the way through,

A fine song and a really powerful message, Kenny.  Crystal clear production.  Everything is spot on - but the guitar is a thing of wonder.  I didn't think the clean picked solo could be bettered - and then came the overdriven solo.

Oh yes indeed!

The lyric is spot on as a country we should be ashamed how we treat our veterans excellent rack love the solos

Wow!  Such a great subject to attempt.

You did more than attempt...you suceeded.

While I do think the guitar work does remind me of Knopfler I think vocally this is all you.

In the end the kings and queens don't care much about the expendable pawns.

Nice work KM.  Very sensitive!

Fuck! Brilliant! :)

With you in the spirit of this song totally. It's a real shame. These guys have experienced things most of us can't imagine. Governments should hang their heads in shame.

Your guitar playing is beautiful. There is a load of personality in it. But a great song most of all.
