It always happens, I spend ages building the backer only to have it confirmed what I suspected - that I would struggle to sing it.

Last Friday I had the house to myself for a couple of hours and was all set to do the singing for this, but I couldn't get anywhere near it. I recorded it an octave lower but it sounded shit. So I switched lanes and got the guitar tracks and vocals for Summer Breeze.

Then yesterday morning I found I was able to get the high notes (just). So I quickly got them down.

Always been a big fan of Steely Dan and wanted to record this for the fest.

It's the same recording setup I used for the Radar Love song, because I was fond of it.

Great cover and I thought of doing it but as you noted I could not hit those notes and make them sound good so I appreciate the effort to do this

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Good to read that more singers don't have their voice avalable when they want.well done.

I do have an electric bass and guitar, i do have an acoustic guitar. I even have a keyboard and a Roland drum set What I seem to miss is skills. So to cure my at least 40y frustration I dicovered my instrument being my voice. So I finaly had the nerve to take singing lessons and make my voice heared thanks to Songcrafters.

And it turned out great! It's always gratifying when things suddenly get together.

I dig the acoustic guitars (is that a uke on the solo?), and how faithful your arrangement is to the original while keeping your own stamp on it.

It's not the vocal that I find terrifying - it's the chords and the solo (my personal favourite guitar solo ever) that scare the b'jesus out of me. This an amazing and loving cover, and the backer is stunning. You've really taken this on with aplomb!

Well covered Nick, my favourite song from 1974 and, guess what, was number one on my to do list. How many times has that happened both ways with us over the years ? lol.

Not had chance to do anything yet for this Fest as since July started my dad had to spend a few days in hospital and I had to stay with my mum who's started with dementia for a few days. After he came home, my mum had a bad stroke and was in Salford Royal for nearly 2 weeks before being moved to our local hospital. I've got a night off from visiting today as my band has a gig.

Hopefully, nobody will touch any of the Bay City Rollers 1974 singles before I get chance to record something  ;)

Sorry to hear about your folks, Pete. I once spent a morning in Salford Royal with a sprained ankle.

They did stand out when I was going down the lists.  But I've got my eye on David Essex.
