UP DATE NEW MIX ON THE VIDEO

I listened again to the mix I posted in the jukebox and realised that the accordion and piano (played by the musicians from Band in a Box) were too low in the mix, so I raised their volume level in the video mix.

1960, I was 12 years old and I had my first guitar... it was probably with  Apache, Forbidden Games and Sound of Silence, one of the first  songs I ever played.

Here, I was freely inspired by Ry Cooder's live version on YT (accordion, slide guitar).

the piano and accordion , drums are from BIAB

J'ai réécouté...version quelque peu "déjantée"  :D i

with bass precision  Harley Benton

and Lap steel guitar... Harley Benton

Beautiful version of this song I know of in the version by the Scorpions.
Februari 1960 is my birthdate so that is probably why I don't remeber Ry Cooder's. The family must have had a singel from the Scorpions. So thankyou for another trip down memorylane

I do have an electric bass and guitar, i do have an acoustic guitar. I even have a keyboard and a Roland drum set What I seem to miss is skills. So to cure my at least 40y frustration I dicovered my instrument being my voice. So I finaly had the nerve to take singing lessons and make my voice heared thanks to Songcrafters.

I mostly know Ry Cooder songs from film soundtracks but I know good music when I hear it! JP, you've done some great lap steel slide work here and your vocals are perfect!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Jean Pierre

Thank you Corné and Farrell...I'm going to do another mix as I realised while listening that the accordion (which is the special feature of Ry Cooder's live version, which you can hear on YT) was much too weak in the mix...so to be continued... ;)

My not so trained ear wasn't missing anything but now I can indeed enjoy the accordeon.:-)

Great rocker Jean! I love that slide guitar and the vocal is great and very well recorded. Great production on here as well.

Merci les gars

ah yes!... I have to tell you that it was the great version of our late FenderBender (Tommy) that he posted in 2016 that made me want to cover this old RnR song

We miss Tommy with his wonderful stentorian bass voice and the pearl-like sounds of the fender guitars (and burns) he was an aficionado of

so I'd like to take this opportunity to review his version

New up date

I modified the render on the jukebox with a different mix, which is on the video clip.

I felt that the piano and accordion were too discreet.

please listen preferably to the second version of the video clip

This is an opportunity for me to pay tribute to the studio musicians (most of them from Nashville and Vancouver) who appear in Band in a Box in the form of "Realtrack", i.e. tracks of real instruments recorded and the samplers are then harmonised in the scale used by Band in a Box.

so in my cover of "Josephine"

the accordion and piano are played by two studio musicians from Nashville

Accordion
effrey Joseph Taylor (born February 28, 1957) is a Nashville-based bandleader and multi-instrumentalist, primarily known for keyboards and accordion. He is a long-time member of the Grammy-winning Western swing band, The Time Jumpers.[1] As a bandleader, he conducted hundreds of shows at Nashville's Opryland USA and the General Jackson riverboat.[2] and backed up many artists performing on the Grand Ole Opry.[2] As a session musician, he has recorded with Paul Simon, Harry Connick Jr., Elvis Costello, George Strait, and Vince Gill.[1] He was a featured artist on Ricky Skaggs' album, Instrumentals, winning a Grammy in 2007 for Best Bluegrass Album. He was musical director for the live stage production Always, Patsy Cline in its two-year run at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.[3]

piano

John Barlow Jarvis (born January 2, 1954, in Pasadena, California)[1] is an American songwriter, composer, session pianist and recording artist. Before moving to Lake Tahoe in 2014, he had lived in Nashville, Tennessee, since 1982.
Jarvis relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville in 1982 and continued with his studio career culminating in several nominations for both CMA and ACM musician of the year. The list of artists Jarvis has recorded with includes Garth Brooks, Tammy Wynette, Shania Twain, Dusty Springfield, Bob Seger, Hank Williams Jr, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Jimmy Buffett, Lionel Richie, Steve Earle, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and more. He also played piano on the Elvis Presley Christmas Duets Album and performed with James Taylor for his Small World Tour. In 2011 Jarvis performed at the White House with James Taylor for the PBS special "In Performance at the White House". Jarvis has also performed on TV with Ray Charles and Sting.

One of the special features of Band in a Box is the ability to use real instruments played by real musicians instead of midi files.
