Every once in a while I feel like writing/recording a blues song. So, here's the most recent one ....

You say
I look like a Rolling Stone
You say
I should be living alone
Maybe you're out of touch
Maybe you say too much

You say
My attitude lets me down
You say
I'm like an intellectual clown
You say I have no character as such
Maybe you say too much.

You say
I'll come unstuck in the long run
You say
My parents should've used a condom
That I look like a reject from Starsky & Hutch
Maybe you say too much.

You got the hide to say I look like a gorilla
But it's like I went to bed with Princess Diana
And woke up with Camilla.

Loving that harp the beats got me nodding my head I believe the blues is working its magic on me or is it that Bass voodoo that's going on ....love it

the harp is wicked... against that acoustic guitar and then there is that incredible slide... Tedeschi Trucks for hundreds of dollars?  Nah... I'll just turn on the Ray channel...
and get some crocodile rock... (hah... not really crocodile rock but I did like the flow of the words..)

you say my parents should have used a condom... lol...

reminds me of "Don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to.."

the lyrics alone are worth the listen but the musical delivery is spectacular but then again... I do think too much...

The lyrics put a smile on my face (condom, Camila, lol). The blues harp is super in tone and playing! You threw in all the cool bluesy instruments (harp, acoustic guitar, slide guitar, piano, organ (B3?), bass, and drums and they all blended together for a great listen. You can play the blues anytime you feel like it and I'll hit play every time. Excellent vocals and mix, Ray!

Masterful playing and production and funny lyrics. I especially like the breakdown with the piano riffs, really great composition and playing on that part. I envy your expertise level in virtually all instruments (do you play drums also or mostly use virtual midi drums?)

Hi Des, thanks for the kind words. I can't play drums to save my life; I can't even pat my head and rub my stomach at the same time. So, I use virtual drums but generally I do my own programming and use my keyboard as the 'drum kit' to tap out rhythms, feels, fills etc.

Bloody marvellous.  The granular blues harp is just wonderful.  And the piano breaks are spot on. Vocals are classic Ray especially the harmonies on the "you say" parts.   Lyrics made me smile.  Actually they made me laugh aloud!
