Another nightclub style jazz vocal tune with just piano, standup bass & drums and a sopranino sax solo at the end to take it home.

Enjoy!

I could tell you I'm feeling just fine
Lest I garner your sympathy
I could order up another glass of wine
Just continue to lie to you through my teeth
Too nice a day to be pouting
I should join in with the joyous shouting
So many people want the sunshine in their faces
But I could stand a little rain

People tell me I was much too crude
in the way that I treated you
All the times when you needed me most
I couldn't be bothered so you let me go
I wish the clouds would take over
Not likely to find me a 4 leaf clover
I know the flowers need the sunshine to grow pretty
But I could stand a little rain

Something tells me to get down on my knees
Give it all up to ask you back
When you were here there was sunshine in my heart
Even when clouds threatened to bring the storms

I can give people such a good show
Make them believe I'm a happy dude
But if you look very deep in my eyes
You'll probably see only shades of blue
They won't believe my sad story
So I'll just tell them my lies of glory
So many people want the sunshine on their faces
But I could stand a little rain

Nobody cares 'bout my so low
So I'll diddle around with my super ego
So many people need the sunshine to be happy
But I could stand a little rain

Great feel and chords. Wish I could play some keys.

That was a great listen.

you have hit real nice groove lately John... I generally dig your music but I think this is something, a style you really like and can excel at..

I liked the lyrics alot and this line especially///"So I'll diddle around with my super ego"

diddle is a favorite word of mine and I have used it in several songs and certain to be used again...
it's fun to rhyme that one...

the music is soft and really nice.. smooooooooooth....

the keys are tickling like a good daddy playing with his children when they are 4... they just giggle...

that clarinet? sound is amazing as well... Very nice vocals too.
top notch recording

Smooth as. You do these small combo jazz numbers so well, John. Beautiful piano chords with nice tasteful brush-work on the kit and meandering bass, all sounding so cool.

Well, Mr. B., here's another deftly-crafted jazz production which sits very easy on the ears. Whatever your modus operandi for creating these smooth-flowing torch songs, I suggest you stick with it, because your formula works. In fact it works very well. As previously stated apropos your other tracks, this one wouldn't be out of place on a jazz album or heard in a cabaret lounge. Well done.  8)

Our resident lounge lizard is back with yet another smoking song.

The sounds and performances are positively reminiscent from the days of smoking jackets and full ashtrays.

With a packet of gitanes and a glass of whiskey there's no care in the world. And even if there is... Who cares as long as the glass is full and there's still time until the last call comes.

Btw blue eyes are better than having a black eye, or two.

Great one!
