Help my band is too loud!! :(

Morning all,

I'm loving my BR for home purposes, but have found a slight problem with it.

I took it to band practice, with a view to recording as we practiced - I'm sure loads of you have done the same.

Has anyone found that their band was just too loud?!  I had the Sony mic (the Ebay one that everyone seems to have) with the input level set as low as it would go, on 1, and the sensitivity waaaaay down too, but still when we all played together - too loud and the "OVER" light was flashing up. 

Any suggestions?  We're not a massive 10 piece metal band or anything, and it wasn't seeming too loud in thr room.  I'm stumped!

how much does that over light flash? if its just about once in 5 secs then its ok

a little "over" flash here and there is alright as betzq suggested-
maybe use the the limiter effect on the input

same with me and the band.... put the input way down to -15
with my DIY panasonics... and put the limiter on...
