This is simply stunning!

The songwriting and performances are strong, but something that might occasionally go unnoticed is your skills as a lyricist. You're able to convey so much emotion with your lyrics and you're never at loss of words.

That's a rare feat in every regard. I've often listened to your songs and felt that you can possibly keep the lyrical theme going and build upon that, but you still manage to do so.

The arrangement is also spot on. The sparse way the song begins makes it feel like it might be a piano & a voice -type of performance and it would 100% work like that. Then as the song progresses you're bringing more layers and instrumentation into the mix pushing its emotional impact even higher.

5/5.

What a beautiful song.  Poignant lyrics and so well performed.  So much to like but I am a sucker for spiccato  strings. very fine piano playing.

I would hate to pry but try to stay strong if you can.

Thanks for posting again John. This is beautiful. The piano playing is really great, as is all the music and the production. The lyrics must be personal to you and you sing them with such emotion which makes it work so well. I love the way you construct songs like this. It builds up so well.

I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

The soft piano start with your vocal on top sounds so good. When the bass and drums enter the song steps up a notch or two. This has an excellent melody plus the call and answer of the two vocals is a cool production tool. Great dynamics! Your voice has a Peter Cetera (Chicago) vibe to it. Well done John!
