One More.........

That is goddamned funny, T. :D :D :D

I think that this whole Gangsta school of thought is utter Rubbish........

I came from a background that wasnt particularly privileged......
In fact.... I nearly fell into Gang culture.... or shall I say, Nearly became entrenched into the mentioned scene.....

Anyone who states that they commit crime due to disadvantage is weak, lazy and out for an easy time....!!!!!

Some of my best friends (and family!) are on Income support...... And dont follow the dangerous trend related to this topic......

The UK is going through a credit crunch/depression.......

It would be the easy way!!!!!!

Because they have self respect, they refuse to lower them selves.......

Then there is the Politically correct ideology that it would be wrong to say this........

Rubbish....!

I am BAME/Ethnic minority/Black/whatever......... It shouldn't matter...

Voluntary segregation is a dangerous thing......

Our predecessors fought for equality, so why dont we keep it.....!

We shall and should enjoy it and make the most of it........

The related anger to the fight is not ours to feel.....

A Truce was called....

The spoils are ours to enjoy......A battle won, in the UK at Least....

It is simply for us (BAME individuals) to excel and make the most of what has been gained by the fight which occurred before our existence........

When inequality rears its ugly head, that is when we should fight with the same venom as presented by our predecessors ..... With head to the same grace used in the fight!

If not..... Get the f**k on with it.......

Integrate.....

Thrive......

Dont constantly seek a fight or an easy buck by playing the Race Card....

That card was played for a reason before....

In the U.K it doesnt need to be played that much any more......

People use it for irrelevant situations and it is gradually losing its meaning....

So when it needs to be played, It is worthless......

All and sundry have used it recently.......For financial gain ....

The lessons taught by people who battled for equality are being lost due to certain individuals watering the message down......

What are our Kids supposed to think....?

The easy way is the right way................

Gang Culture is a childish thing!

Those who promote such a state  of being whilst they can be classed as an adult are scared of facing the facts of life..... Or purely exploiting our Youth.....

Bosko Bruv.....

It is Funny!

And we Shouldn't feel bad about laughing....!

Gang culture isn't about being classed by an ethnic boundry.....

It IS choice..... Nothing more... Nothing less....

Love you man!

Peace

I am planning on doing a seminar at my daughter's school because with all the budget cuts, kids hardly get any musical education here any more.

Good luck Bro.....

Wicked Quote!

I think Music is the key to Expression..... And an appealing (age old/tried and tested) way of doing it!

Expression fights anger caused by pent up emotion....

Lay it down.. . . The track that is. .

If you dont say it, you wont make any difference..... Or receive a different point of view to let you know you are wrong in what you are thinking.....

Kids need to know how to express what they are feeling...

Again, I look to My 20mth old son for reference...

If he doesn't know how to express what he is feeling...... He smacks me up the side of my head..... Or hits me with a shoe... Etc.... Lol

Kudos Bro!

Peace

Agreed, T!  I myself grew up dirt-poor and had parents that were not particularly good at "parenting" -- they loved me and didn't exactly treat me badly -- but they were not encouraging, not uplifting; there wasn't a positive vibe in the household, only a negative "woe is us" attitude, as if the whole world was against them and there was nothing they could do about it.  On top of that, they didn't care what I did, when, or with who; didn't care if I stayed at friends' houses (or wherever) for days on end.  They were way too "liberal," and that is saying a lot coming from me as a very liberal person.  But when it comes to parenting, I believe you CAN be too liberal, as they were.  I ended up attaching myself to the wrong types of friends into all the wrong things and had a lot of near-misses.  I could've easily fallen into the trap, but there came a point when I decided that I was way too intelligent and had way too much to offer to let myself go out like that and be another statistic.  Just another poor, white trash idiot into drugs and in and out of jail, with nothing of significance to offer the world other than more PAIN.  I wasn't going to let it happen to me.  I picked myself up, brushed myself off, and decided this was not the way it should be.  So I made a big change and moved 1000 miles away from the scene and started a new life.  This life is the one I am now living and have been for 12 years now, which is 180 degrees different from the one I possibly could have lived if I hadn't decided to do something about it.

I am proud of you, T -- it sounds like you were in a similar situation, but didn't allow yourself to go down the wrong path.

You're absolutely right, it's a conscious choice to live your life the right way or the wrong way.  But without positive role models and parental (particularly father) figures in one's life, it's easy to fall into the trap.  We can't blame society and shitty parents for EVERYTHING, but they certainly have a lot to do with the problem.

Much Love,
Your Pal John

Well done Tharek...A strong message delivered with poignancy.

It comes down to bad parenting...and (some) music videos.

I believe the most important thing we can teach our children is something that so many lack and that's empathy. Confidence and self-respect can get a person far but without empathy we have no understanding of how our choices affect others.

and now a bit of levity courtesy of Bret and Jemaine...

(I) don't rap about bitches and hos,
(I) rap about witches and trolls

I'm not a rap kind of guy, but I like it!  The stops and starts really make this song. I can hear the sincerity in your voice, too.
