Hi All

Something very different from "The Pain" here.....

This  ishe Stuff that I grew up with, Growing up in London........

"East London Chat"........

Please be open minded with this post......

Knife crime and gang culture has hit our fair capital big time......!

This is a regular sight on London streets recently after someone is shot or stabbed...

And it is always the "Good eggs" getting Hurt.......

The youth of today have it easy compared to how we had it......
Im 28 years old so this isn't too long ago in the grand scheme of things..

So why "Gang Culture?!"

Why Knives and guns!?!?!

Why do these kids think that this is the Manly thing to do....

And why do these Girls crave a "Bad boy"..?

I had my fair share of experience, when it comes to growing up with Gang culture.
I got out of it! And Play the same game as everyone else now.

"Disadvantage" is for those who accept it..

It is time for these Kids to realize that this is wrong..

The teenage years "ARE" truly the formative years of a persons life.....

Some choices need to be made now by our Kids that will define what effect they have on the community as a whole, in our lives to come......

This tune has many names.....

"Lesson 101"
"Stand-up"
"Lay it down"

Frankly, I don't mind what it is called......

I Know I don't need to say this ,but please be careful in your use of language on this topic......The subject is quite tricky......

Peace all

This is pretty epic, guys. It's lyrically intelligent, moving and so relevant to what's going on out there. So you get huge credit for the words alone. And then there's that gentle breakbeat groove and great guitar work coming on all summery in the background. I don't listen to rap - it seems like it's done a lot more damage than good in recent years. But this works on many levels. It should be a mantra of hope, because we really need one in this city. I feel close to despair when I see kids on the bus these days totally out of control, with no respect, and playing R&B on their phones - daring anyone to say something, and knowing nobody will because fear rules these days.

It's almost too much to take in. I need to listen to it again.

But I can tell you that it's brave, intelligent, beautifully performed, and rather wonderful.

I can't praise you enough really.

Here come the style whores again............and I love it!! This is a great groove, and the simple guitar, keys and bass create a superb feel to this. All the stops and starts work really well.

As to the lyrics, well my damaged hearing can only make out parts of them but I agree totally with the sentiment of what I can hear. And you have direct experience that must make it very relevant. I haven't spent a lot of time in London since the early 1980s and things were a lot better then. I feel so sad when, as you say, the good guys just seem to get in the way of the guys that have had their minds twisted by a perverted view of "respect". So much kudos to you for tackling a serious subject in a meaningful way.

Cheers,

Nigel

Excellent groove going on here. I like the rhythm, very good!

Such a sad picture that was painted, and I can only hope things get better over there. You are so right that a teenager can be easily influenced to travel down the wrong path.

Peace,

Mark

Again you show another side of you!! But still it sounds so YOU anyway!! Even tho' the vox is different and the style is different there's no doubt this is an Osckilo tune.

It's a genre I don't listen very much to, but this struck a nerve in me. The deliverance of the lyrics is so full of emotion .... and the arrangement, with the insisting bass-line, the subtle synth and guitar all pull together to make a wonderful piece of music!!

Peace my brothers !!!!
