I said I was never going to do this song. All those little parts, ect....
My brother said he did not like the song because it made him sad.
One day, I started picking out the parts and experimenting. I listened to a version with some brass parts in the background, went to the key board. I never play keyboard, and when I tried to immitate the brass sounds, I didn't like the sound. Then I started playing violin and cello sounds. I had never done this before, but I composed some really basic parts for violins and a cello.

Let me know what you think.
Thanks,

Bro

You certainly did this one justice!

Wow! It was great, lets hear some vocals! :D

You really nailed the feeling of the original! Great job!
If you loose track over a chord progression, play as fast as you possibly can. Nobody will know. Thats how they invented bebop.

A Big Well Done...You have done EC justice here!

Thanks guys for those remarks.
Here's a couple of little secrets....
I had to use my daughter's old acoustic guitar, it is practically a toy. So you were right on about the strings sounding thin. I need a good acoustic guitar.
I couldn't find any bongo sounds, so I improvised with conga sounds, almost non existant.
Listen for the little triangle sounds, these were done with a tuning fork.

Thanks again!

Yep, it's a sad song, but always one of my favourites. Buggered if I know how he could do this at the time.
 Beautiful rendition.
I always say, if I can leave somebody happy and smiling at the end of the day-----I've completely f*cked up!!

MKS - First of all congratulations on producing such a classy rendition with your limited arsenal of equipment; and secondly, added kudos for completing it on an 864. I had one, and although everything you need is there on the machine, sometimes getting it to work seemlessly can be a butt-pain.

For some reason I could imagine a Childrens' Choir taking the vocal on this. Interwoven voices, Boys/Girls 8-14 yrs of age. Obviously, given the subject matter, a certain poignancy would be added with this type of arrangement . I haven't investigated the collaborations board as yet (I'm a Newbie), but I would suggest that if you weren't intending to add a vocal to this yourself, opening it up for someone to add a vocal may herald some surprises.

Lovely piece. Well done.
