Simply Mindless the band is at the verge of break up. There are just too many conflicting interests and musical differences.

Anyway here's a quickie. This time it's the theme song for Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!.
A classic movie from Russ Meyer.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster,_Pussycat!_Kill!_Kill!

The movie is from the 60's. This version is a bit of an update.

The "synths" used are Casio SK-100 and Yamaha VSS-30. The left side guitar is EVH and the right side is the Kramer. The bass is Yamaha with tape wound strings.

I've stopped using mastering plugins (Masterdesk etc.) and i've been doing it nude for a while. I'm sure that last part didn't come out right...

thanks for those guitars it does sound toward EVH...

but not like "Cheers" as in Kramer.... (ok a really absurd reference)

Lemme guess: It's a new bass, and those are the strings that came with it.

Does anyone put tape-wound strings on their bass on purpose? I can't think if I've ever seen them for sale. (Fuck! You can buy them.)

Is that the Rockman again on the Kramer? Whatever it is, it sounds like John McGeoch – especially at 1:04. which is about as high a compliment I can give someone on their guitar tone. I have to stop embarrassing myself with these fawning compliments. Just keep doing it.

Another example, this time in a theme song: Magazine - Goldfinger from their album "Real Life."

Actually no. I did that intentionally :)

The bass was new maybe 20 years ago. The strings didn't get older and i never really loved the sound, or the feel. As a last ditch attempt i started comparing what the Framus (The other bass i have) has that the Yamaha doesn't. For starters the Framus has 40 year old strings. And those are flatwounds.

So i was going to buy flatwounds, but the store didn't have any. They only had Rotosounds Tru Bass 88 tapewounds (the seller remarked that no one ever buys them). I paid the full price and left.

Turns out the strings were so thick that i had to do a full setup on the bass and also widen the nut slots a lot before i was able to use them.

The upsides were many. The strings are black. The sound is thumby. No more nasty high frequencies. The feel is velvety smooth.

Oh, and the guitar sound. The lead break is the Kramer with Neural Amp Modeler using a somekind of a full rig capture. I recorded that later and just grabbed the first sound that had a suitable gain.

The Rockman sound can be easily EQ'd away so it's hard to remember later what was being used for what. I've tried to write down something about the gear, but often forget to do so. I don't have any "go to" guitar chains. It would be easier if i had, but what sounds good today might sound bad tomorrow so...

So you're the reason they keep making tape-wound strings; the reason this abomination still persists. One of the pieces of gear I have in storage in the USA is my trusty old Ibanez Blazer Bass – which came with tape-wound strings in the early '80s. The tape started to unwind after awhile, and I just peeled it all off. And I never considered replacing the strings with anything but roundwounds. Even my acoustic fretless bass has roundwounds. I will never use anything but roundwounds – just in case my lord and savior John Entwistle is looking up at me from Hell.

I do appreciate the mindset of using the gear you find, and seeing what happens. Letting your sound develop organically based on the happenstance of the gear you find and other limitations.

like the POTUS I have one word DON'T!

of course no one paid any attention to him either.  and likely you won't to my plea.

This band kicks ass.

those guitars are doing things to me... I was just listening to "The Cradle Will Rock"...
same sort of effect.

DON'T YA DARE... DON'T YA CARE?  about us mindless stiffs?  The peasants, who have to eat pheasants to survive!  On a bad day, it's squirrel on a stick.  I have friends who lower themselves to pigs dicks.
you prick.  like a needle in my thumb when all I want to do is darn some stuffed doll for my child.  You know the ones where the rich think it's a voodoo doll?  I got news for them... it's the best I can do for my child.  Judge me some more and next time you come through these woods you might find yourself a bit more poor.
this is what binge listening to this does to me.  because I can't really hear your lyrics so I am making u p my own.
