I just can't keep up with the quality of the tunes heard here!

I know i didn't pay my dues (i paid well below the market price) so i went back to the beginning...

So here's a live cover with a Casio SK-100. I played it with one finger and sang while reading the lyrics. I also tried to hit that fill button occasionally. Then i overdubbed some extra stuff and called it quits.

And yes. That cover art took more work than the song.

I am having so much fun listening to this on my wall of 2000 watts... it isn't real cranked up... because it doesn't need to be... I think you could sing blue grass and it would sound great... all this time you thought your vocals suck... and you got loyal fans man... hands raised... we want more kind of fans....

I think Finland must be like US somewhat... how do you know all this stuff?

that Casio works for me.. you see... take what you got and blow the hell out of it...I mean play the hell out of it.. no matter what it is... I am just glad you went this direction... you are not from planet earth.

I aspire to record like this. These days, I don't have time to spend recording and bouncing, and trying out rough mixes.

I'm barely aware of the original. And if I recall, it's a bit overwrought. Your version is more convincingly from a character who is "sinking down." The music is mechanized and without dynamics; it feels inhuman. It contrasts perfectly with the very human vocal performance, and the fragile lyrics. It conjures a character who is ill-suited to modern life, and seeking comfort and refuge in drugs and a tenuous personal connection. (Damn, that describes a lot of people.)

ah well!...I always do it this way, I don't know any song by heart (except for the dentist's smock and the Marseillaise :D

having said that, the result is really not bad at all ... I'd even say it's good.
