In a world of lacklustre pop, the odd gem stands out, like this song.

So much, I decided I wanted to do a version.

(Ha! I've just realised it is 13 years since this song was released  :o )

I must be getting old. I have admit I did not know who Jessie J was.

This is a really catchy song though. And your performance is fab.

Also loved your production. This sounds pro.

Well done

Excellent Karl, this rocks and the guitar playing is nice and tight. Cracking job on the vocals too.

You are right there is so much utter rubbish that passes for pop music now it is kinda hard not to turn into one of those grumpy old men, which I have to admit that is me nowadays :)

honestly since the idea came up I will pile on... I don't find that much these days worth spending my time listening to... most of it no musicians even play on... so that is a big two thumbs down for me...
there is some great stuff... however these days, other than a few beloved old bands that I listen to I generally spend my time listening to stuff like on here.... first off i really appreciate the incredible talent that people have and share on the site... and these are real gems that will get little recognition .... however the most valuable gems are the ones that are very rare...

to your song here... I don't know the original... however there is a lot for me to dig here... first off the guitar sounds... works a million for me... I love the pulse of the song and it is sang with alot of passion... you put alot into this effort and I hear it.  Your vocals sound familiar, I could name a comp or 5 but no matter... they're good imo!  Bass bounces along a good nicety... If I were going to be picky I would say the bass is not as good as the guitar but what you have here works.
yes, I would listen to this many times...

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Fantastic cover - you've captured so much energy in the vocals (and it's not at all easy to sing).

You held my attention from start to finish and I get distracted really easily.

Another crotchety old Songcrafter chimes in:

Like the others here, I didn't know the original or the artist. So as I listened to your version, I tried to guess the era. It's sounded very 80's until the pre-chorus:

QuoteWe can do this all night
Damn, this love is skin tight
Boom me like a bass drum
Sparking up a rhythm
Baby, come on

That had the 2010's all over it. I've heard that particular phrasing way too many times. I imagine the producers saying, "Nice song. Really nice. But... what can we do to make it sound like everything else that is popular right now."

Thanks for introducing me to this song. I prefer your version to the original.

I know who Jessie J is.. I think she was a judge on The Voice here in the UK for a season or two. The song's vaguely familiar as by 2011 I had given up listening to most current music and was just dwelling in the past  ;)
Probably heard this in the background on holiday.

Anyway, I did enjoy listening to your cover, it's quite a good song !
