jToday I heard the cover of Buddy Holly's Every day by ODH and his UKE (magnifique!)

AAAHH Buddy Holly, Eddy Cochran my first Rock n roll emotions in 1960 ( I was 12! ;D )

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a little Buddy Holly song

so in the afternoon hop!...here's Rave on with the very dirty sound we had in the early 60s with the little amps we cobbled together ourselves ...and in fact my very first band was called "les dirty sound" ;D ;D
We didn't have much trouble making a really rotten sound with the equipment of the time (and especially in France), Fender, Gretsch and other Gibsons weren't even imported into France...

sand to think that we now have software to make the sound a little dirtier, like this Waves J37 plug-in that emulates the famous tape recorder from abbey road studios.

Brought a big smile to my face after a pretty lousy day. Great energetic performance.

oui le JS 37 de wave est un outil interessant...mais pas trop facile a utiliser
Il existe des alternatives comme le Kramer Master Tape

When I do a cover version I always listen to the previous versions on SC, it's very interesting...but this time I didn't do it! :( , it's fixed now and I've listened to two versions
yours with Robbomac in 2016 very good version, very faithful to the original ... fortunately I did not listen before ... I would have hesitated a little to make a version
the one by Dasilasing in 2013,...good but I don't really like electro music...

Thanks ODH, it was your cover with the Uke from Everyday that prompted me to cover a bit of Buddy Holly
(note that Hilary's version has disappeared...)

Excellent work on this Buddy Holly song JP! You've really captured the 1950s rock n roll sound.

Great fun JP. Some rocking guitar in there. I like early rock n' roll. It was the beginning of rock music and we won't see that time again. We should cherish this era.

Très amusant JP. Une guitare rock là-dedans. J'aime le rock n' roll des débuts. C'était le début de la musique rock et nous ne reverrons plus cette époque. Nous devrions chérir cette époque.

From the very first chuckle at the beginning I knew this was going to be fun.

I listened to this in mono, with only one earphone, which apparently was the right way to do it. That added to the AM radio, Lo-Fi sound you were going for. (I'll make time to listen in headphones later.)

But I think you captured not only the Lo-Fi sound of the original, but also the energy and chaos of those early rock and roll recordings, where they didn't spend weeks working on one song. They plugged in and hit record and what came through was freshness.
