Even though I had noticed
The glimmer of gold on her third finger
I was already enchanted
With the pretty girl singer
Eyes as blue as lapis
Hair – cascades of ginger
I leaned against the bar watching and listening.

My date got so pissed
She skulled her drink, swore and left
Like I gave a damn
Nothing given; nothing kept
I gaped at the singer, wondering
Maybe I was out of my depth.
She was 'killing me softly with her song'

Ah, get over it.

The gig finished and her partner arrived
Hell, was I shocked?
Yep, you guessed it. Another girl
As they locked arms and tongues I watched
I tried to call my date
But my number was already blocked.
A long slow lonely drive home.

I heard this earlier on just a phone speaker.  It sounded great there.
Now on cans this is so good... and the little killin me softly stuff was great... really good and funny too...

I like the story line.. and as for the man who loved the singer... hey, they can't take her out of his head!

that piano lead is such a tickling delight Ray.  What a massive nugget of gold this tune is and you always do them so great!

This time it's the mischievous side of Ray that has taken over!

The clever songwriting is still there, but there's an added extra later of both lyrical and musical quirkiness.

But what is that deeper than deep bass sound? Synth bass with just the low end?

Cool playing and a fun song all around!

Wow Ray, I didn't think you could get any better but this number takes the cake! Great lead riffs and tones. Fine storyline, vocals and presentation. Killer keyboard work. Diving in for another listen and DL! A keeper for sure! 8)

You are doing some very cool and tasty lead guitar work here Ray! The vocal is right in the pocket. Man that bass is deeper than deep. The piano is a fine addition. The story had me smiling as I thought about the guy at the bar getting fooled, lol. A great song and mix!

Wow. Add some more Latin percussion and this could have been a lost Santana track from the Zebop/Marathon era.

I love it!!

This is fabulous
