Imagine - John Lennon rework

I had this idea of doing a cover of Imagine in a kind of Sonic Youth style. Which is kind of how it turned out, to be fair.

I'm glad I did too. It's always been a bit of an eye-rolling cliché for me, but I've really connected with the song by doing this. The words could be the Humanist anthem.

The guitar is the HB LP, still with the fat strings and still tuned down two semitones (so the E shape is plays D).

I love it - low-key, and on-point. Yep, that middle section and following part has got a bit of that SY vibe to it.

it's an amazing cover Nick.  The bass makes it like Frank Sinatra... or Lou Reed.  The drums remind me Ringo.  The vocals have hints of John but this is mostly the fabulous ODH!

The earlier version had guitar recorded using the onboard mic. I had a chance to do a 'proper' recording through the audio interface. Same guitar, same tuning. I was going to swap out the original but it's in there as well.

I took the opportunity to tidy up some other tracks, and I removed the superfluous chorus from the end of the instrumental middle bit.

Very nice remix/rerecording, Nick. The SY-ish guitar parts are much more prominent and sound great.

Very cool version Nick.

It does have a Lou Reed feel, but still all you. The slap back echo on the vocals are a nice touch making it more Lennonesque
