I was told recently that friends of mine were splitting up after being married for over twenty years. A sad tale but it happens.

Hey Princess the atmosphere strained
Hey Princess, feel the winds of change
Twenty years packed into
That suitcase tied with twine
Princess what are you leaving behind

Hey Princess the mercury falling
Hey Princess, I hear him calling
Twenty years discarded
Underneath you draw a line
Princess what are you leaving behind

Princess answering some questions with tears
Pandering to somebody else's ideas
Princess are you drifting a little way off-course
His heart's beating in time with yours

Hey Princess, the taxi waiting outside
Long walk to the station but just a short ride
Maybe that journey will see you change your mind
Princess what are you leaving behind.

Sad story. Great work both on music and lyrics...melanchol and beautiful at same time.

Very sad story.  The music and the beat are unique.  Enjoyed it but I would bring the synth playing the chords up in the mix a bit

you make some really wonderful story songs Ray...

sure it is a bit melancholic but it works so well and really drew me right in.  the slow start with the sultry rhythms, kind of like a Sade tune with equally impressive vocals.  I love what you did with the effects on the voice, simple and elegant.

the ending keys are so lovely, it makes it sad that the song ends...

I think you write books..

Sorry to hear about your friends Ray . That's a shame. Yeah a sad story with beautiful touching lyrics and music.
Loved the intro, with the slow start. Great music all round and professional production as always.

This is a sad story about your friends splitting up Ray. The lyrics are very true to life and easily relatable. Great production, vocal and backing music. I like how you dropped the drums on the third verse. That created a very dramatic affect. I just realized you didn't have a chorus in this, and it wasn't needed. Excellent songwriting and performances!

Lovely tune, sad story. Life is a sad thing too very often, you conveyed the emotion very well. Loved the synth outro. I wish maybe it featured more in the song - but then again that might have been overkill... which is why you can write superior tracks and I just try :)

Cracking track Ray
