Help With My Micro BR (SD Card related)

Started by Basil, June 27, 2009, 05:37:47 AM

I always get the "unformatted" (SD Card) error usually after listening to the mp3 I create/mastered couple of times. I don't do anything other than rewind and forward the song I created. It also happens, though seldom, after I delete a recorded track. It suddenly doesn't recognize the SD card installed. I'm not sure why this happens. I'm currently using a PQI sd card which I believe is a branded generic card. I always have to reformat and initialize my card everytime I encounter this problem. Is this a compatibility issue with my SD card or a problem with my micro br? Unfortunately, I misplaced the card that it came along with it so I don't have any point of comparison. Help please  ???

You will have to try a different card to determine whether it is the MBR - It's probably the card, though.

An easy and cheap test - go to your nearest creepy PC repair place, and they are probably sweeping the floor with those 1GB and under cards by now - pennies on the dollar.

I think that the SD cards are possiably not suitable for repeated editing...

If you delete songs, Rewrite tracks and so on, without reformatting the card regularly, the problem seems to arise.....

All I recomend is creating one song at a time and backing up your work regularly rather than using the MBR as a storage device.....

There is probably an SD card out there which does not present this problem......

Any recomendations would be welcome.....
The MBR card even has problems, but works O.K after it is re-initializes..... for around Two songs.....

Don't forget to Optimize now and then too. it cleans out old info that takes up space and may complicate editing. I agree intense track editing and rewinding MP3's is a common cause of card confusion

Slighlty off the specific SD-card topic, is it not wise to purchase several cards? I have the BR900, and must have at least a dozen 1gb CompactFlash cards (Which are being discontinued btw), so I would have thought that repeated re-initialising can't be doing the machine or cards much good?
