THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!. MY MBR IS SICK!!! I CAN"T BELEIVE SHIT!! :'( :'( :'( :'( >:( >:( ??? ??? ???

LST - I'm not familiar with the MBR, but do you have enough memory to bounce everything. A similar thing happened to me with the 864. I had to delete some un-needed  VTs to free up memory.

I don't understand what that means. Are you saying the levels were too high ("turned everything up")? Or are you saying that there was no sound, as if the levels were at minimum ("no number")? Either way, I assume that you're having a problem with the level after bouncing or mastering. The most common reason for that is forgetting to set the MasterLevel properly. MasterLevel is the recording level in bounce mode and mastering mode.

Hey 64 this is a real bummer! I will tell you everything I did.

I put down stereo track: TR1V1 = TR2V1, TR3V1 =TR4V1

I bounced those four tracks to TR12V2 then I put some background guitars in stereo TR3V2 =TR4V.

I then bounced thos tracks to TR12V3...I continued in this manner to TR3V6 and TR4V6. I do think all were in stereo except bass where I played 1 Vtrack centered and then on the other Vtrack I played bass again centered, so I have to bass lines.

Now something I have been doing...don't know if it can cause the problem on my last Vtrack, for example I'll use TR3V5 and TR4V5...although they are the last, I go ahead and bounce them before I mix.

All my bounces and levels went fine...I had everything sounding the way I wanted and when I go to do a master I'll get to the master screen and ONLY press play and set all my levels that way and then I'll record.

At any rate, My last bounce went well, then when I hit master and pressed record I got there terrible sound....it sounded like someon turned it up to 100 and a 10 scale.

I have a 1gig card in it. The something unfortunate happened....I was going back and trying to 'rebounce' everything and then deleted the guitars on my first tracks....So I started to play and no I'm getting patches  of music on the 'playback tracks that have just vanished.

Reading all those article...am really bummed out if this unit is breaking...there is no way I can get another on :( :( :(....need to go to bed...I'll reintiate the card and do the song again.

Oh one more thing I want to ask you 64....I I play one track >>>TR1V1 and lets say its guitars....and I decise I want two guitars there (stereo) instead of centered....couldn't I go to Utility>>trk>>>CPY etc. copying it to TR2V1 and the adjust to L50 R50? I tried it a few time and it wouldn't work.

Ok good night and thanks al ot 64!

Sorry. I can't think of anything that would explain the loud noise when you start mastering. Maybe you should call Roland tech support and see if they can help.

Mastering is optional. You can export the result of your final bounce (Tr12v6?) directly to a stereo WAV or MP3 file. See pages 112 and 113 of the Micro BR Manual, 3rd edition.

You can do that, but it isn't really stereo because the two tracks will be identical, so it will still sound like mono centered. To make it sound like stereo, the two tracks have to be different. One way to do that is to introduce a slight delay in the second track. You can do that by setting the destination "To" slightly ahead of the source. For example, if you're copying the whole track, set the destination "To" time to 00:00:00-03.0 instead of 00:00:00-00.0. This will provide a 100 millisecond delay. Each frame is 1/30th of a second so 3 frames would be 100 ms (3/30 = 0.100). You may have to try it a few times to find a suitable delay time by adjusting the frame and sub-frame values.

64 when you are using the on board mic, can you record in stereo? I think that may be whats wrong.

SteveB

LST - Wouldn't have thought a mike would provide stereo. Internal or external.

maybe I stated that wrong....when I did the vocals I press both TR3 and TR4 i.e.
TR3V4 = TR4V4

Just totally confused... I scrapped it all and intitiated the card...will try again. I reall am hoping that I am not 10% smarter than the equipment I'm working with..LOL

This will really bum me out

LST - Well I hope it works out for you. I have never used (actually never seen) a Micro BR so I'm worse than useless with your particular problem. On the stereo tracks vocal though, I would presume that if you record a vocal on two tracks simultaneously, the vocal will actually only be a mono recording, that is, the same vocal on two tracks, panning them left and right will still make it the same vocal twice, as it were. The theory of stereo is to split the various instruments into a stereo field. On the bigger BR recorders there's an electronic technique called 'Doubleing', not too sure whether your BR will have this; and it is where a single track is panned hard left/right and the effect makes it sound as though there are two tracks. Unfortunately, you can't delay one of the tracks to give the semblance of true stereo, but it is certainly an effect worth investigating.
