Lay Lady Lay (1969)

La chanson est dans la liste des 25 meilleures chanson de Dylan qui lui ont valu le prix Nobel de litterature

"Lay Lady Lay" is Ronsard in the land of folk. It's an indecent proposal to the woman you want, from a Bob Dylan with a warm voice, less abrasive than usual. (Dylan explained that he had given up smoking before the recording.) Lie down in the big brass bed, my Lady. Desire and deference. A super erotic combo boosted by a heady musical loop.

So for this track I went back to BIAB's old friends for the piano, pedal steel, drums, bass,...just vocals and guitar for bibi (for me)

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

ah yes, this is indeed a classic and I heard it a thousand times but I did not know for years this was Dylan... he sounded like Leon Russell on this one... or maybe Leon did this and I am mixing them up...
anyway you have done a very excellent cover of this...

I could not sing this with a straight face... I get it and I think the song is awesome but I would be laughing the whole way through...

QuoteI love the slide on this cover.

the easy way out ;D initially I wanted to play a lap steel part with my lap steel equipped with multi bender duesenberg ...but it's a lot of work...so I used the excellent Realtrack from Band in a Box, which are in fact phrases played by "real musicians" (not midi), for the occasion

the lap steel is played by Eddy Dunlap, from Nashville ???

Good job on the vocals and guitar and choices of arrangement using BIAB. Sweet performance of a classic song. Never thought much about the lyrics, but they are a bit risque aren't they?

This is what's called as stealing ones thunder:
" I could not sing this with a straight face... I get it and I think the song is awesome but I would be laughing the whole way through..."
As now i want to hear that version  too! :)

All kidding aside. This is cool! Once again this fest proves that Dylan was at his best when doing songs for others to cover.
