I had never really played and sang at the same time, so I figured it would be appropriate to try with something I didn't know all the words to or the chords for  :D

Talk about step and fetch - like patting my head and rubbing my belly at the same time. Well, it's a milestone for me and I''ve got the bug now.

I have no acoustic and had to record using GTR+MIC, which is available in mono only and no independent level controls. For my own ears, I panned a second track delayed 1/100th of a second. Plus it was hot and I had a fan going, so that didn't help :(

1:20 you will never get back...

Peace,

Mark

Great stuff Mark.  It sounds way better than I expected from reading your description, good job all around.  I LOVE playing and singing at the same time, I get a real buzz from it.  For me it is the greatest way to blow off steam, there is something that happens when the guitar and your voice and your hands all work todether, wonderful feeling.  I have been experimenting with playing harmonica also on top of guitar and singing (now that is hard!).  I would suggest getting an acoustic, put a proper strap on it so you can stand up and strum and sing away.  I look forward to doing this everyday after work (don't always get to do it but I look forward to it).  Your singing will get stronger by doing it this way (I found anyway).

Alternate Tunings: CAUTION: your fingers have to be in different places

Thought it was great far too short lets have more!

Greeny

Don't know the original - it reminds me a bit of Tom Petty in your vocal delivery. This is very nicely done, and too short! I was enjoying it, and then it finished. You should have more confidence, because you can deliver. For sure.

Good Job!!!! I needed a Big dose of some Pink Floyd.
Still in shock about MJ.  I was watching the news when they first announced his Death.   Rock on !!

Thanks Geir, Steve, BB, 48, Greeny, Jim!!

BB - Thanks for the advice - I have a buddy that said he would lend me an acoustic, so I might now take him up on the offer.

Greeny, I picked this number because it was short and I probably wouldn't have made it much farther! I'll probably do a longer original when I get better at it. Lot's of train wrecks when I sing while playing guitar :D

Jim - I was 13 or 14 when Thriller came out - Would be a liar if I didn't admit MJ had an influence on me - A helluva performer and big loss. A summer of fun music for me and my friends. It wasn't long after that my tastes in music changed(Drastically!!), but the impact is there.

Oh, and Animals was my second Floyd album after Dark Side of the Moon (Mom bought me that one, go figure!). I love Floyd!!

Thanks, guys!!

Animals is a favorite of mine too, love the sheep track.

I really enjoyed this, and it does make you want to listen to the album.
