It is what it is.

I'll sing you songs you've never heard
Songs you'll never hear again
With words that don't mean anything
Read into them just what you want to read
And I can't tell you how or why
And I can't show you where or when

But I know everyone needs love
And I see it everywhere I go
And I know everyone needs hope
Can you see it
Through the flames
Through the smoke
Through the pain
Through the tears

I'll strum you chords that I don't know
Though I'm sure that someone knows their names
And I'll try to remember them
Though I'll never ever play them again
And I can't tell you where or when
And I can't show you how or why

But I know  everyone needs love
And I see it everywhere I go
And I know everyone needs hope
Can you see it
Through the flames
Through the smoke
Through the pain
Through the tears
Through the flames
Through the smoke
Through the pain
Through the tears

The slightly unsettling arrangement goes very well with the lyrics, which are universal truths. From the least to the greatest - all true. We're all in this together, and it seems that needs saying nowadays.

reminds me of 10CC at times... really great effects and the way you put this together is really hypnotic...
when you go to that part "I can't tell you how or why".... the vocal with the down spiraling music is really great ....

cool song... fits your voice perfect

Nice composition. The line "With words that don't mean anything" struck me, because that is how I characterize the song I recently finished/posted  :D  Your chorus on this is quite moving. Just noticed you got a 12 string - cool! (I got an acoustic recently... mine is hard to play, not sure if it is me or the guitar itself... maybe I need an 12 electric  :) )

I find the 12 string really difficult to play to, as i don't use a pick and strum with my thumb. New mix by flash Harry posted.

I thought the old mix was great but this one really brings out the swirling madness even more... reminds me of 80's Europe bands like Flock of Seagulls without the heavy electric guitar... but overall I still like the 10CC thing...
a really good song is still good with different mixes... as good as the music is though the voice and lyrics and delivery are the star for me!!!!!

Never heard the original mix. Dark atmospheric piece. I like the lyrical construction. Cool song!

A lovely song James I enjoyed it.
Could you please do your kitchen fruit jugling song again here on sco?
I do have an electric bass and guitar, i do have an acoustic guitar. I even have a keyboard and a Roland drum set What I seem to miss is skills. So to cure my at least 40y frustration I dicovered my instrument being my voice. So I finaly had the nerve to take singing lessons and make my voice heared thanks to Songcrafters.
