So grandson Blake's 2nd birthday is this week, Getting a song on your birthday is a real treat (thanks guys!). Blake is obsessed with pirates and the Wellerman tune, so what's a pizza-gramps supposed to do .....

Nice instrumental cover Bruno..I must admit I had to google Wellerman as not being blessed yet with grandchildren I wasn't aware what a popular song it is.

Second listen. I am gobsmacked at how good this sounds. It sounds like the last time I imbibed too much.

Lovely melodies, soloing, and arrangement.

très sympa, le solo de guitare est à tomber par terre  ;)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I love being a grandfather, you have a very special relationship. I love his innocence and wonder at the world. He was desperate to get to that microphone, and I was surprised that I pressed record and he spoke those words - perfect, little dude! He loves stomping on the pedal board as well!

As for guitar - it was the Paul PRS. It was first take on the recording, with no pre-planning. I didn't quite hit the pinched harmonics that I was thinking, but it sounded okay so I left it. I was using the Kemper for the clean sounds and pedal board for the effects in. The backing drums and synth chords were programmed on the electribe. I did have to reopen the manual! I did have some problems with the GR-20 tracking for the accordion, but generally not too bad. I had some real fun with this, as it is for blakey-bear, and it gets me back in the recording groove :-)

I can hear the fun you had with this Bruno. Even cooler that it was for your grandson, Blake. Well done on that guitar picking Gramps!
