"Whiter Shade of Pale" - cover by Ted and Kenny Mac

New mix and a fix.

I didn't sync up Kenny's vocals quite right in the original. Kenny noticed. I also added a little drama in the drums that wasn't in the original MIDI file I found on BitMidi.

I think I agree with you. When I was fixing the vocal sync, I listened to the original by Procol Harum to make sure I didn't screw up again, and... and... their version seemed kind of muddy mono after listening to our version a bunch of times.

Lovely collab chaps. The backing is perfect. It is great to be able to get those sounds from the SY-1, they are bang on. Kenny, what a vocal, sounds like you might have sung that before! Great stuff lads.

Today I listened to this on a car stereo. My Malagasy driver knew the song. He was whistling along. I don't think he had any idea he wasn't listening to the original.

Thanks again, Kenny. I'm really satisfied with this.

Meant to comment on this earlier - this is a faithful cover and also a massive collab! Amazing job using the bass to trigger the Hammond sounds (even if it was multi-tracked - it all sounds perfect), as well as prominently featuring some damned fine bass itself - bravo, Ted. And Kenny's vocals are the cherry on top.

Well done, gentlemen.

Fantastic cover. Great vocal by Kenny.
That SY-1 sounds awesome.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

This is a real tasty version.
I toyed with trying to get the organ sounds on this when I first got my Roland organ module... my playing's kind not up to it! Love the sounds you're getting here.
I hear what you're saying about several takes ;D Most of my keyboard parts are multi-take, often left and right hand done separately.
And that's a cool vocal from Kenny.

I listened again to the versions of whiter shade of pale of Tedand Kenny Mac, AndyR,..and mine :) and it's really three beautiful versions, quite different from this great classic of the 60's
It's nice to have them together for a moment ;)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Amazing job on this!  I am blown away that you were able to do the organ parts so well by playing a guitar into synth pedal.  That is really, really impressive, and must have taken a lot of work (and talent!).  And the pro vocals done on short order are equally impressive.  Great collab here!  I was interested to read that the organ part on this was inspired by Bach's ("Air on the G String").
