I guess someone had to do this...

The recording went like this:

I first recorded the acoustic guitar part and "sang" at the sametime.
Then i recorded the bass part and "sang" again. I was kinda feeling out how it might go if i was to do it proper. Then i felt i had missed some of the words and recorded a third vocal track. The whole production felt like it was missing something so i recorded a "drum track".

I had to record the "drum track" again because i felt like i found more nuances to play with when flexing the leg muscles and then giving them a rest. The first take was more musical as i concentrated more on following the arrangement. In the second take i got carried away with nuances.

The drum kit used was medium sized legs, blue jeans with holes (cheap, but at least the holes are intentional). What surprised me the most were the grunting noises i made while whacking my legs. If one was to remove all the rhythmic action the drum track might sounds like an obscene call... If i were to do it again i would have at least sung the choruses while whacking away.

Anyway i didn't really know how to play, or sing the song to begin with, and i'm not sure if i do it now either.

All the warts are there. Preserved for posterity.

interesting your process

we should all do it for information

Good recording, I didn't know the song
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

This sounds good with the acoustic, tripled vocals, bass and pounding on the blue jeans! Thanks for the detailed explanation on how you recorded this! Zoltan, you're a one-man band rock star! BTW, the first time I recorded our drummer (years ago) with two small condenser overhead mics to catch the cymbals, I was amazed at how much he grunted while playing. Luckily it was only noticeable when the overheads were soloed out.

It is a cheesy classic, and who doesn't love cheese? Put a big smile on my face.

I thought I commented on this.  lol... watching the 3 grands this week got my head in a spin.  It's all fun though, at least mostly.  I really like this .  It reminds me of an electric guitar unplugged and mic'd up.  The hand slap drums sound fun and quite good.
I always dig your vocals... and I do love all sorts of cheese...except Limburg and this ain't that.
more please
