Hearing this makes me wonder if i should try using the SM58 again Currently it's literally cathering dust on the floor...

I do think that the most important factor here is the singer. Greeny has his vocal act together and his vocs always sounds so clearly defined and articulate.

The guitars sound fantastic also and it's the clever arrangement and way of using just the right amount of effects that makes it all work so well.

This song has a great way of gently drawing the listener into it before upping the ante with the ear candy. Like those duelling guitars and swirly sounds that are to follow.

indeed the singer makes a major difference.  For quite a long time some great singers used SM57's even (which I don't like for vocals but if you eq them I suppose) in the studio.  58's are still a favorite of mine for live but I wouldn't hesitate to try it recording.  I do use my Senheiser e835 sometimes.  It's a dynamic mic and it does real well...
