I like old songs from the 30's and 40's

..and I found this one beautifully performed by Diana Krall

So I made this afternoon a little recreation with just a guitar and the Uke bass

...and then by searching a little bit on wiki I learned that this song composed by Milton Ager and Dan Dougherty with lyrics by Jack Yellen . was the first movie theme song of Ager and Yellen, written for the movie of the same name (released in 1929) with Dolores Costello...so I can put it in my playlist of movie music songs ( Movie Music compil by Uncl'JP  on General Discussion), and it's N° 19
;D

lyrics
All dolled up in glad rags
Tomorrow, may turn to sad rags
They call you glad rag doll

Admired, desired
By lovers who soon grow tired
Poor little glad rag doll
You're just a pretty toy
They like to play with
You're not the kind they choose
To grow old and gray with

Don't make this the end, dear
It's never too late to mend, dear
Poor little glad rag doll

[Guitar Solo]

You're just a pretty toy
They like to play with
You're not the kind they choose
To grow old and gray with

Don't make this the end, dear
It's never too late to mend, dear
Poor little glad rag doll

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

c'est vraiment un son super doux... Je l'aime totalement. Cela semble familier.

this is really super sweet sounding... I totally dig it.  It sounds familiar.  I heard some of these old songs.
As Ed Sullivanused to say "uh Wonerful, wonerful", which he had an interesting way of speaking... what he actually was saying was "Wonderful, wonderful."

Sweet, jazzy track JP! The finger picked guitar has a nice swagger and the vocal is excellent. I like the use of reverb as well, it really adds a cool atmosphere to this song. I dig it!

I remember this song and it sounds great JP. Not that I was around in the 30's and 40's, lol, but I am familiar with it. You've done a stellar job here!

here is what I learned on wikipedia
Glad Rag Doll is a 1929 American drama film directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Dolores Costello, Ralph Graves and Audrey Ferris.

This is one of the many lost films of the 1920s, no copies or Vitaphone discs survive, but the song with the same title and the trailer do.

...and so it's a movie you haven't seen and won't see ...unless you're over 90 years old  ;)
