Or fool for me trying :D

This track did a number on me. For some reason i started doing a cover of this a few weeks ago. With the intention that if i'll manage to do the vocals then i'll learn the bassline + solo for it.

I did the drums. I did the scratch guitars (Mustang P90s + Rat pedal). Then i found a tab for the bassline and recorded it while reading the tab. There were some faster parts and at times i had to change the page while playing... So the performance is a BIT weird.

As for the vocals. Boy did this rip me a new one. This is actually the second time David Coverdale has done a number on me. Cue several decades, or take a time machine and you can find a teenage version of me trying to sing like Paul Stanley and David Coverdale. It didn't work so i chose not to sing anymore... That is until way later and at that point it was too late.

So here i am trying to beat the odds and record the vocs. And they sounded horrible. I tried to wing the whole thing from memory and as soon as i compared my vocs to the original version (The 1980 version is the only one for me. Not the hair metal era Whitesnake re-recording from 1989 which sucks) i knew i was in trouble.

Today i tried to do the vocs again. And no... I'm not having any of it :) I'm posting this in hopes of not trying to do it again after several decades.
And also as a lesson (for me) to not try to compare my vocs to Coverdales. Even Coverdale can't sing like Coverdale anymore so there's that.

I should have turned this into a bossa nova song, or synthwave. Then just maybe i could have winged it somehow :)

sounds pretty darn good to me... and you don't need to sound like Cloverdale...lol... because you got something of your own that I really dig... there is some swag on this vocal.  What is really cool is that you are proving yet again how a person can be a whole band in a recording studio...or at least in a computer.  No wonder the days of bands in massive venues are nearly over.  Their cover has been blown by people like you.

I really dig the guitar sounds and the bass lines... glad you could get back on the site...

also on second listen you really have the volume on the vocals correct in the mix imo... I can hear all the subtle nuances in your voice.  I really like that...

A cool cover Zoltan. Your vocal works well here as does the guitar and bass. There's no need to knock yourself, it's a job well done. If I heard a band playing your version out, I would be as impressed and I am now!

This sounds great to me and one of my favourites from that era. Vocal sounds fine and those guitars rock. Well covered, Zoltan.

Love this, Z. I was a a huge Whitesnake fan back in the Marsden, Moody, Murray days and sae them live loads of times including a very early gig at the Lyceum Ballroom.  This has always been one of my favourite songs of theirs  - and this is a really cover. I was really psyched up for the guitar solo but it was not to be.

Really enjoyed this.

Like Paul, this was the best era for Whitesnake. Great band, loved their music and Coverdale was singing his socks off during this period. Great job with this - excellent bass on this - so congrats. Liked this lots.

Did somebody mention spandex.......are we still doing that?.... Awesome.......glad to hear it..........seriously, there is something about your voice that is so darn appealing.....reminds me of one of those modern alternative rock bands like CAKE......I bet you could do a mean cover of their big hit, Short Skirt/long Jacket..........your voice would be perfect........lots to love about this cover....great job
