Remembering the days of the LP when artists used to hire writers to write "liner notes" about the artist or band in question.  This seemed to stop happening in the 70s, or at least slowed down.  I started buying albums in the 60s and they ALL had some type of these writings back then.  This is the type of notes that you would typically find on the back of your favorite artist's LPs.

 :) John B.

He wanted you to know a bit about the music
that you put your hard-earned money down to listen to
It was inspired by the many years he spent
locked up in his room, strumming his guitar
and writing words
His family and friends, they'd never guess he'd have his chance one day
The lonely dues he'd pay
He sold his wares to a giant label
Everything he had was on the line
But he knew it was his time

His music's loud but clean
The critics say his last LP was quite progressive
It's why it didn't quite go gold
And Billboard Magazine says "This effort's destined to go quickly to the top
although at 95 it's got a way"
Consisting of the tunes he wrote while on his last big tour
Inspired by the world
Diversities of the different cultures mingle here to form a chain of songs
The influence was so strong

We at Widget Records are proud to bring you this extraordinary talent
This amazing music man
We hope that you'll enjoy the 10 selections on this album full of wonders
May the music  bring you smiles
And look out for his concert tour coming to a town near yours
It's such a graceful show
Some say he sounds much better live in front of you
You won't regret
His best is yet to come.

This is a stellar tribute to the unsung heroes of the 60s and 70s. Musically very sophisticated with amazing synth tones and strings and a wonderful, jazz laden melody. It has all the hallmarks of great mid 70s "art pop" with some unique twists!

wonderful work John...

as I listened to it without reading anything about it first, my thoughts were this could be about many of the SongCrafters....

I really like your piano in here... and the slowly meandering bass lines give it a nice and relaxed feel while the drummer beats away as drummers do...

nice synth winds there in places.. and wonderful singing as per usual... a really lovely piece

Greeny

You had me at the first chord change  ;D

Clever, sophisticated songwriting (and storytelling) with that balance of optimism and melancholy that you do so well. The lyric is superb.

Excellent!

Farrell Jackson

You've written some excellent lyrics and you sing them very well, John. The instrumentation and melody have a sad but not a downer vibe to them. Your recordings are always "loud and clear" to borrow a line from your Liner Notes. I really enjoyed this song!

Always enjoy listening to your songs, John. Lovely chord changes and melodies along with excellent production/arranging. I remember very well those days when our favourite LP's had either liner notes or lyrics printed on the back of the cover.

Ray, sometimes they had both!

Trist

Very musical number, nicely structured and well thought out song, liked the lyrical theme and story it tells, enjoyed the track

The lost art of liner notes and reading all the info, i miss that in this digital world

I'm just shyly too young for LP's and my folks went to 8 tracks after the "phonograph mishaps" we did as kids! They just did not want to keep buying needles. But we still kept the turntable and one of my first LP's was Dire Straits and then The Cars. Anyway...

You have a melodic gift and I always enjoy your music!
