This original song was recorded with a Japanese strat plugged directly into the BR600.
I think I used Guitar effect #3 for the lead track (and maybe #2 for one guitar part)
I used the "Tight Bass" sim for the bass part.
I also used the built in mics for the vocal recording.

Each track was done in one take so it is a little rough, but I hope y'all like it.

WOW you sure know how to make a great entrance here on bossbr.net! Great first post! Very dynamic and energetic. We like it rough!
Be careful with the recording levels... I suspect I hear some clipping. Otherwise it sounds nice; open mix, fresh and tight.

Thanks for the reviews guys. This is a very cool site.

Yeah - that clipping sux.
I'm having some trouble getting the recording levels right. I am planning on recording this with my band (which has been out of commission for a few years with kids and all).

A couple questions:
1. Should  be posting original work here or in another section?
2. ( I found the answer to this one). I see some people posting with "...Fest". Is this some kind of a theme where everybody tries to emulate an artist or style? If so, how do I get in on it?
Thanks again guys, I appreciate the feedback (as long as it ain't from my mic  :D)

Great song, Vann! It's a shame about the clipping though. It does detract from an otherwise excellent recording. The vocals sound very clear, so I assume that you had the levels set too high when recording the guitar tracks, especially the main guitar track that begins the song.

I'm having some trouble getting the recording levels right.

It's very important to set levels in the correct order according to the signal path. So, you should always start with the Input Sensitivity. Turn the GUITAR/BASS/MIC2 dial until the PEAK indicator beside it lights just occasionally when you're playing your guitar very loudly. Then turn it back just a bit so that the PEAK indicator doesn't light at all. This gives you a bit of a safety margin. Next, select any insert effects that you want to use and make any adjustments to them. Finally, set the record level by turning the REC LEVEL dial so that the INPUT level meter fluctuates in the top 3 or 4 segments. Although it can be okay for the top segment to light occasionally, it's safer to make sure that the top segment never lights. That will ensure a clean recording.

As I said, the order is important. If, after setting all of the levels, you make a change to your guitar's volume, tone, or pickup selection, or you adjust the BR's Input Sensitivity or Insert Effects, then you'll have to readjust all of the levels that come after it in the signal path - in order. For example, if you adjust your guitar, then you'll have to readjust the Input Sensitivity, then the insert effects, and finally, the recording level.

Another level that is often overlooked is the Master Level. In normal record mode, the Master Level doesn't affect the recording. But in Bounce Mode, it does. Many users aren't aware of this, so they adjust the Master Level for a suitable monitoring volume in their headphones, just as they would in normal record mode. They might even change that level during the recording. This will invariably lead to poor levels in the final recording. In Bounce Mode, you should always set the Master Level according to the L/R level meters at the right of the display. But, I don't think that's the problem in your case because the vocals sound clear. If the Master Level was set too high during bouncing, then everything would be distorted.

Do you hear the distortion if you listen to just the guitar track? If so, then maybe you could record another take on a different v-track with the levels set as I described. If that sounds clean, then you could remix everything with the new guitar track. No need to redo the vocals as they're clean already. And I suspect that the bass and other tracks are probably okay too. So, you could probably fix the problem by redoing just the guitar track and remixing.

Yes, you've posted your MP3 in the correct place. The only other place you might want to post a song is in Collaborations. You would do that if you wanted someone else to add to your song, or if you want to post a remix of someone else's song with your additions.

As you've seen, we are now enjoying a Neil Young festival. If you'd like to cover a Neil Young song, please post it here, or in Collaborations (if you want others to add to it). I will update the Index and add a link to it at the top of your message.

I think one festival at a time is about all we can manage. So, if you have any ideas for other festivals, please wait until after the Neil Young festival finishes. I'm not sure when that will be. I guess we'll just wait until interest fizzles out. Then maybe Geir can post a message declaring the end of the festival and 48 can finalise his poster.

Vannsy;
Leave this track alone ... At least it shows you're human.
'cause apart from the levels being too high, this is a great song.

I can only aspire to play as well as you, although I can set recording levels with the best  ;)
