I've been listening to Toto recently since I got concert tickets. This song, by guitarist Steve Lukather from the 1986 album Fahrenheit, got under my skin and I've been working on this cover for quite a while. I struggled to play the guitar solos, but finally got passable takes after many tries. Everything besides guitar and vocals are virtual instruments via midi transcriptions - I did a lot of tweaking/editing of those.

- 1 Lead vocal + 4 backing vocal tracks via AT4040 mic into CLA vocals plugin
- 1 Fender Mustang P90 Guitar into Amplitube 5 plugin chain: Tremolo pedal, Compressor pedal, Delay Pedal, "American Tube Vintage" Amp (volume cranked to 10!), Plate Reverb. Followed by Waves J37 Tape plugin.
- All recorded via Tascam US-2x2HR into Reaper
- Drums and Keys - Sampletank 3 plugins
- Bass - MODO Bass 70s P Bass model plugin

* The "new gear" is a new laptop and relatively new USB interface used to record this - I now have no problems with glitching unlike my previous setup!

Really good job on this amazing song Doug.  The keys sound great.  I find this incredible honesty and innocence to these vocals... you really feel it!  I like that.. you were totally into it and that is legit.

This band were top level studio musicians and formed their own band and it's been a great band... They have had their share of pop rock hits that are very good but at it's core this band rocks...
I don't think a person could spend too much time on this band...because a lot would be gained...
in fairness though they had like 6 musicians and 3 singers..lol..

way to go Doug... I dig it.

Very nice job Des! You can sing any song and make it your own. Excellent lead work too, has that Lukather vibe for sure!

I am moved to tears listening to this!  wow

is this the actual tempo of the song?  If feels a touch slower... I like it.

Really well done, you are getting better and better Doug

The combination of AT 4040 and CLA Vocal is very good
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

This is very enjoyable. And this is coming from a lifelong Toto lover (Hey... This synth sound sounds like Toto... Let's scrap it! :)).

The vocals and the 80's sounding synth stuff really work wonders here. The guitar lead is wonderful.
