I was having a play around with the acoustic and came up with this the first for my RPM this year although a couple of days early...we're all getting old and looking over our shoulder....Thanks for listening
My heart beat feels like a strangers
It drums to a different kinda beat
The image in this head of mine hangs in defeat
It don't feel real
What I see just can't be real

Who is this in the mirror
Where the hell have I been
Who is this figure in front of me
It's so old it can't be real
It's so old it can't be real

Life carries on and as  it ticks like a bomb
It's slowly going explode on me
Then I'm gone gone gone

What have I left behind me
Who am I was it all real
Was it all an illusion what was the deal
Oh what was the deal
Oh what was the deal

\
We struggle as we get on with our life
Suddenly all the years disappeared
You look over your shoulder
to realise the end has started to appear

Now Where did all those years go
You raised your children and let them go
It scares to your soul
To see how young you feel
but really how old you've become

You look in the mirror
Now where the hell have I been
Who is this figures its not you
Where is that young man
Where is that young you

Was it all an illusion everybody knows how life doesn't feel real
Could somebody out there tell me
what is the deal
What the hell is the deal
what is the deal

If Life is a dream then use your imagination

A real beauty Trevor! The guitars compliment each other. The strummed acoustic drives the song along and then your vocal enters which gives it a boost. Sometimes minimalism works well as it does here. I enjoyed the listen!

I just right now want to speak of these great lyrics.  First I can totally relate.  My wife thinks I dwell on it too much... but I take each day now as more precious than the one before, each moment is special and I want as best as I can to act upon that.
your lyrics describe the sentiment I think everyone experiences some times... and so yes... it is relatable.
Mirrors lie... ha!

Trev!  It's a real beaut this one... outstanding work...

the guitar floats along so wonderfully and offsets the sort of heavier lyrics so the song actually could be seen as a dichotomy...

congrats on your play around ... it's really good...

Powerful stuff Trev, those lyrics are really powerful. Age related themes are creeping into my lyrics too I have noticed. Great tune, really enjoyed it. Deep and a little scary but there's no getting away from it either, best face it head on and rock!

Great songwriting Trevor, I love the acoustic guitar. Nice melodies. Really powerful vocals and imagery from the lyrics. It's a thing none of us want..getting older.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

Excellent words in particular on this Trevor, you really hit the nail on the head! Awesome vocals and some nice subtle lead work too. Quite an undertaking to make so many songs in so little time! Good luck

I think most of the guys on here relate to this song also something  you said in your description is easily close to a chorus on a song  I'm just finishing .
The guitar sounds great, that little melodic lead takes it to a new place as well.
Well done Trev

Great song, Trev. Brilliant passionate vocals and the plaintive accompaniment is perfect for the introspective lyrical content.

I can identify with this  ;D

Brilliant, impassioned performance, and there's a lot of energy in that acoustic guitar. The sweet lead melody lines work very nicely. Feels such a full production considering there's only 2 guitars. Excellent!
