not everyone is at the races
not everyone has an advert smile
life's a beach of ultraviolet faces
parades of disappointed getting charred and fried

but try as I might
i've got no dog in this fight

'cause I'm a lost cause
on a causeway of broken glass
I'm a lost cause
whatever comes to pass
I'm giving you fair warning
so you can't return the goods
a lost cause...
it's understood

the deck is stacked for everyone
like sardines packed
by the factory gods
we're getting bitter
turning water into wine
on the drunken esplanades of summertime

but try as I might
i've got no dog in this fight

the purple bruises
of flamenco in the dark
and the relics of the saints
inside their dusty jars

'cause I'm a lost cause
on a causeway of broken glass
I'm a lost cause
whatever comes to pass
I'm giving you fair warning
so you can't return the goods
a lost cause...
it's understood

MONDAYS ARE HAPPY DAYS AGAIN HERE ON SC!

you know what you are doing with those guitars.  Sounds brilliant.  Really like the bass popping in and out and the keyboard work as well.
Drums sound great.  HOwever, as good as all that is, the vocals are the star for me.

cool progression too..

A great line to kick it off "Not everyone is at the races" love that. Between that and the first few bars of melody I knew it was gonna be a good un. Lovely mellow vibe in here and an infectious chorus. You are back and in top form here. Super stuff.

I've been missing my fill of Greeny Monday on here. I'm so glad to see you back posting again! Great song with some fine organ/piano interplay. Nice grit on that casino and excellent, comforting songwriting. The subtle layering of the vocals in the chorus and the churning cello are a brilliant touch. Bravo Tim!

This sounds great will all the instrumentation you have added, Greeny. Excellent lyrics and vocals. The Casino and the Tiny Terror work well together. The line "on a causeway of broken glass" rocks!

Hi Greeny,
Very catchy melody, and the lyrics are so nice.
Loving this recording.

Your songwriting is so next level. Just the right amount of pop sensibility without ever entering schmaltz. Such a big fan. Strong tune with a fantastic bridge. Those drums sound live. Loved the Hammond. Great arrangement.
