This is the second song I've completed since returning to the studio.
As one gets older, we must grab that valuable commodity, and squeeze all we can out of it. I don't see this song as depressing. I think of it more as optimistic and inspirational.

Time

Intro
Time is all that matters
Time is all that matters

V1
The course is not run yet, feeling spent and drenched in sweat
With nothing there to catch you when you fall
It's life inside a jar, not going very far
Everywhere you turn, another wall

I've seen so many pass, like the shattering of glass
Smoke just dissipates into the air
Remembrance is a thread, that bonds us to the dead
But it's frayed and tattered far beyond repair

C1
When the light of all these years begins to fade
There's no time to be uncertain or dismayed
Because time is all that matters
Time is all that matters

Solo

V3
Break the rusted chains, exhume your own remains
Awaken and ascend above the clouds
Sand will soon run out, rain will turn to drought
Swept away, and draped in linen shrouds

V4
On this convoluted path, will fate impose its wrath
Such mystery is hidden from us all
Passion rises from within, embrace it and begin
It's time to learn to run before we crawl

C2
When the light of many years begins to fade
Rekindle it and hone the jagged blade
Because time is all that matters
Time   is all that matters

Outro
Because time is all that matters
Time is all that matters

The recording is well done, and the effects perfectly mixed.
The vocals is floating above the instruments, just like I want it.
Very nice lyrics, and I agree, a song full of hope and inspiration.
Love the keys.
Well done.

Very nice I find as I get older songs get more reflective of times gone past

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Brilliant song frank, I love the music style, very 80's in style. Love the synths. Nice guitars, drums and vocals. Great arrangement.

I like the solid bass line and that synth line sparkles in the mix. And, as I'm getting a bit older myself, the message seems spot on to me.

Really, truely a great song! I love the production and beautiful arrangements here. That synth line and backing vocals in the chorus are lovely. Reminds me a bit of an 80s Leonard Cohen song if he were more melodic. Excellent!

Thanks everyone, for the kind words, even though I screwed up the lyrics.  ;D  Just noticed that after I posted it. Duh! Immediately ran to the studio and fixed lt. Have to do another mix now.  :o  Mixing is never done anyway.

First off...fantastic lyrics.....very well done......fully realized song, lots of layers and good bits......vocals are well done, kinda reminds me of late period Bowie vocals for some reason........but the lyrics really stand out for me, awesome

I swear, the song had me hooked before the synth part arrived – the drum groove alone of the first two measures. That never happens. And then this skillfully crafted song arrived. The chords, the vocal melody. This would work in many genres – even just voice and a strumming acoustic guitar. That's the sign of a good song.
