Pipes asked me ages ago to work on a cover of this song with him - and here it is.  I think Glenn Hughes originally did this with Trapeze before the Deep Purple years - and it is a fine song which suits Nick's stunning vocal abilities well.

The backing music took me a while to do mainly because my DAW computer died when I had almost finished the song. I hoped the audio issues I was experiencing was the interface, but it wasn't - I discovered after buying a new upgraded one.  I updated my DAW and other software instruments in the forlorn hope that it might be some kind of conflict with my old software versions and an operating system update.  It wasn't that either so I had to replace the PC.  Then reinstall shed loads of software and sort licences before setting about learning the foibles of the new kit.  I am more than a little nervous of the inevitable Credit card statement...

So -I recorded this in Studio One v6 pro, using Arturia v9 Rhodes piano, Spitfire solo strings and others.  The guitar is a real Fender strat though an axefx2. I "played" the drums on an Atom pad controller.  Nick recorded his vocals on a BR machine and I mixed an mastered in Studio One.

Hopefully you will like it. I need a lie down.

oh yes, I like it very much.
the music is exquisite.  superb!
I am listening on cans with a little bit of noise in the background so I will have to hear this again...
Truthfully these vocals are on par with a great singer in a band called "Styx" and that singer is Dennis DeYoung.  I don't think I have ever heard anyone who sounded remotely similar.  That band is one of my favorites... so this voice is extra special...great recording merging an older machine such as the BR with the more modern things...
glad you got that computer Paul...

and the intro viol defo reminds me of the great Kansas band violin... and your guitar work Paul is always outstanding.... so I don't even mention it much anymore... but it is so good...

but that voice on this... yeah the dude got PIPES!  (Brooklyn Bridge Good)

I had this Trapeze album many years ago. Great album, and song. Hughes is a terrific singer, and Nick certainly does him justice on this track. Smooth instrumentation/ Nice work!
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

I love it - True talents both of you. I do it for fun, you guys could get paid for your music so don't worry about the credit card bill. The attention to detail and the mix is amazing.

Far out, and awesome!

Getting to this one late, but o what a stunner it is. You two fellows have a boatload of talent. Sorry to hear about the computer troubles, though - I know that feeling.

Really enjoyed the listen!

Stunning gentlemen! Great vocals, music, and Strat solo Paul and Nick! I wasn't familiar with this song, so I found a version on YouTube. You guys really did it justice with this cover. I'm sorry about your dying recording gear but the new rig sounds great!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Always loved this tune since the Hughes/Thrall Project. In later years, Glenn put in a free time middle section where his histrionics are memorable to say the least.

Great backer for an unbelievable vocal delivery. Covering Glenn Hughes is ballsy, but this was just incredible.

Now I want to hear you two doing "Getting Tighter."
