Hypnotized - Written by Bob Welch and recorded with Fleetwood Mac.  I was already working on this instrumental a couple of weeks ago when we got the news about Christine McVie, so that was a bitter-sweet surprise...

This 20-track recording was tracked and mixed in Sonar Studio 3 and mastered on a Tascam DP-24. All delays and reverb synced to 104 BPM.
* All electric guitar parts done with a Gretsch Streamliner 2420 while micing the cabinet of a Roland Cube 60 with an SM57.  Had intended to switch guitars for different parts, but I swear, this guitar is hard to put down...
* Electric bass: Ibanez  ABG200, micing the cab of a Roland Cube 30, with a  simple ADT VST on the track which has the effect of panning the slightly out of phase parts to hard L/R and opening up the middle.
* Piano and all synth sounds using SampleTank 3 soft synth, with the piano parts played on a MIDI controller with hammer-action keys.
*  Drums and congas played with wooden sticks on rubber MIDI pads to trigger sounds in Session Drummer soft synth.
*  The backing vocals are 2-part harmony built up of (4) double tracked parts (8 performances), 2 tracks panned hard R, 2 tracks hard L.

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Brilliant, Hooper. A very accomplished and laid back instrumental.

Very cool!

golly man this is such a great recording.  Well played and perfectly recorded... I found it a bit different to seemingly record and mix on a DAW and then master on a deck.  Is that correct?

that is probably something you do but I don't get to read enough to understand your process that well... This is a darn good recording man... superb...

this is a great song and you have done it well... I liked Bob Welch in FM, this was a wonderful song.

also this got me reading a bit more about the band at that time.  I was intriqued to note that Christine McVie (rip dear) played a Hohner kind of keyboard.  I didn't know Hohner made those.  I have an antique Hohner accordion that is pushbutton that was my grand dads... Also a echo harp harmonica... I cherish them..
In some ways the band in this line up was better than with Buckingham/Nicks....

This is superb. It's a smooth and hypnotic groove – as advertised.

But the touch I really like is the synth pad sound, just a bit right of center. It fades almost too slowly – the notes from all the chords not quite clashing just before they decay. It hovers above the rest of the arrangement like a specter. Without that touch, this would be a very different piece of music: cool, but not nearly as ominous.

Wow Hooper this is such a good recording! The Gretsch Streamliner 2420 sounds great. My son in-law just picked one up and he loves it. The backing vocals are very dreamy and airy sounding. A cool cover for the Fest!

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Wonderful Festival piece and tribute to Christine.

Haunting and hypnotic, very well mixed.  Twenty tracks is a lot to handle but you brought it through beautifully.

That Gretch hollowbody is extremely versatile, in your hands anyway.  A wide variety of tones there, all crystal clear.

Thanks for the references to your recording devices.  Interesting and instructive.

Good one Bro

So smooth - it's got me hypnotized!  8)

I wasn't sure I knew this one at first, but it finally came back to me. The Streamliner sounds fantastic, so well played. Absolutely amazing how you put this all together. Everything fits perfectly!
